The Unknown Journey

Chapter 2 - Part 1

The wait at the airport was brutal.  Laura stayed for a while but had to head back home.  After saying their goodbyes, they both cried.

"Hey, you are coming back in a week." Laura said wiping the tears from her eyes.

"I know but all these thoughts in my head are making it hard to believe that." Lana said smiling with fear. "All those what if's, what if this is a scam, what if I am going to get abducted, what if, what if, what if."

"Oh stop it.  You checked it all out.  It seems real enough.  Just keep in touch and call same time every day and night.  Like I said, if I don't hear from you and you don't respond, I will have authorities go check in on you."

"You are the best Laura.  Thanks for being a good friend and thanks for bringing me to the airport."  Lana said hugging her friend goodbye.

Watching her friend walk away, she became very nervous.  This was going to be a long flight and a scary trip but who knows what the outcome would be, it might be all worth it as the attorney said.  Smiling and thinking of that thought she waited patiently for the boarding call. 

Couple of hours later she was on the plane sitting comfortable in her seat.   An announcement came over the speaker saying the flight was to be delayed a few minutes and to keep all electronics off and seats up right.  Didn't seem to be a problem as far as she could tell but it concerned her.  Not a good start to this already nervous trip.  Looking around she was trying to see what was going on.  

A few minutes later she noticed a man with a briefcase walking down the isle heading pass her.  After he sat another announcement stated that they were about to ascend.  'hmmm they delayed the plane for this man, he must be important.' Lana thought not concerning herself of the situation anymore.   Instead she watched as the plane made its way in the air.

Moments later Lana got comfortable with a small blanket over her legs which she had purchased, a glass of wine and headphones in her ears listening to and watching the movie that played on the seats headrest in front of her.  It was taking forever for the ads and the previews to be over but once it got to the movie she was able to relax.

The flight was long but at least she got a few hours sleep.  Since there was no one sitting next to her she didn't have to move to let them out nor did she have to climb over anyone to get out herself.  It was a comfortable plane ride compared to her previous ones.

All that kept going through her mind was the meeting of the Will reading.  Who was this person, what did she get in the Will and was it really her who was listed in the Will.  Trying to stop the thoughts she got up and went to the washroom to freshen up and stretch her legs.  As comfortable as it was she still had stiff legs from sitting so long.  

While walking to the back of the plane she noticed an assortment of people.  Some reading, some on their laptops, some watching the movie that was playing, some asleep and so on so forth.  But this one person she recognized.  It was the one who had delayed the plane.  As she passed he smiled at her.  Not smiling back she turned her head away and wrinkled her eyebrows saying to herself ' why did he smile at me?' then continued on her way to the bathroom stall.

Now this man was on her mind.  Why he looked at her and smiled?  Did he do that to all the people going down the isle past him?  Maybe she was being paranoid.   She was being paranoid, someone else was walking down towards the bathroom as she was returning to her seat and she noticed he did the same to that person.  'Phew' she thought as she vanished those thoughts from her mind sitting back down in her seat.

The rest of the ride was a little bumpy as the wind had picked up.  An announcement came on and the seat belt warning was lit up.  All seats had to be upright and all electronic equipment had to be turned off.  The plane was about to descent but due to  the turbulence it took a little longer.  Not only were they delayed ascending, now they are delayed descending.  Her fair now is that her ride won't wait long enough for her and have to find her own way.
