[Contains GoT spoilers! This series follows Seasons 2 through 8 of Game of Thrones.] Rhaena Velaryon is the daughter of the late Lord of the Tides, Trysten Velaryon, and of the former Princess of House Targaryen, Visaerya Velaryon. Living on the isl...
[I guess you could say this coincides with 'Eastwatch', but I've changed dialogue to make Daenerys and Jon's conversation not as flirtatious.]
Ever since Tyrion and Davos' departure, all Jon wanted to do was spend the days until he left for Eastwatch with Rhaena. Instead, she fought him. She wanted desperately to forbid him from going, but Jon stood firm in his mission. He could tell it was killing her. It's killing him, too. Soon he will see the army of the dead once more just to pluck up one of their soldiers. He knows damn well he may not come back from it, but says nothing to Rhaena even though she knows equally well. He doesn't want to stress her more than she already is. It isn't good for her. He knows that much about pregnancy, at least.
He's met with the blacksmith Davos returned with. The young man called himself Robert Baratheon's bastard. Gendry, he said his name was. He's a nice man, though he called Jon short right after meeting him. It makes him firmly believe he is who he says he is - because Robert Baratheon certainly never kept his mouth shut around Lord Eddard, especially when he called him fat. All those years apart and the first thing that he said to his friend: You got fat. Maybe Jon and Gendry could become friends in the short time they know each other. Before he's certain he'll meet a grisly demise beyond the Wall.
How will it happen, he wonders. He likes to think he will sacrifice himself so his comrades may get the walker or wight back to Eastwatch. Things don't always go as planned. Especially when it comes to death.
Rain didn't join him when he came down here to the dragonglass mine. She stayed behind without an explanation. It saddened him tremendously but he accepted it. His only wish now is that she will be there to see him off in just a short hour. But there's no sign of her. He has always been the strong one in their relationship, but now he feels tears threatening to well in his eyes.
It's only then, when he looks out to the rowboats preparing supplies, that he hears quick footsteps on the sand behind him. Rain hurries quickly to him, followed by Daenerys. His love throws her arms around him and he does the same, taking care not to squeeze her too hard. Behind them, Daenerys stops and watches them with a sad smile. Jon parts just enough from Rain to cup her face and kiss her deeply. Part of him wants to stay, but it wouldn't sit right with him. He needs to be out there. At least his people will know he died for them.
He loves her soft lips against his. He relishes their long moment, ignoring any looks from around them. If this is the last time they see each other, he will make it the greatest memory in his mind. Rain is the one to part before pulling him in for a hug again and speaking right in to his ear with her soft voice.
"Please come back to me. I don't know what I'll do if you..." She chokes.
"I'll be fine, love." He lies. "I'll be back before you know it. And after that, we'll go to King's Landing together." As he holds her and soothes her with his voice, he rocks her gently in his arms. It seems to work but she still sniffles and he feels tears soaking through his leather's shoulder. "We can see the sights while we're there - if they'll let us. What do they have to see there?" He asks and rests his cheek against the top of her head.
"The Red Keep... The Dragonpit..." Rhaena says quietly. "My father died there. How will I enjoy it there?"
"As did mine, but we can make the best of a gloomy situation. I promise." He presses a firm kiss to the top of her head and parts from her slowly. She kisses him one more time, then backing up to stand beside Daenerys, her hands held close to her body and tears welling up in her eyes. Jon gives her a sad smile. He tries his best to stay as confident as he can, to not worry her any more. He remembers when he promised her they'd never be apart again. He hates himself for having to break that promise, but he continues to stare at her before Daenerys hesitantly steps forward.

"She's terribly worried about you, you know." She tells him in a quiet enough voice so Rain won't hear. "On our way here, she went on and on about how much she hates your... How did she put it? Your bravery?" Jon chuckles and Daenerys grins. "But she says it's also what she loves about you. I may be a Queen, but I don't mind being her voice when she has trouble speaking through her tears."
"I thank you, your grace." He nods at her and she returns it with her own. "If I return-"
"When you return. For her sake."
"When I return, and after the meeting, I'd be honored if you could attend our wedding in Winterfell. I'm sure Rain would love to have you there."
"Of course." Daenerys replies quickly.
"I'd prefer you keep it a secret as well. She isn't aware of my plans as of yet."
She grins happily and nods. "I will. Farewell, Jon Snow."
"And you, your grace. I wish you good fortune in the wars to come." As Daenerys backs away to stand with Rain once more, he watches as she embraces her cousin warmly. Jon keeps his eyes on Rain and hers are glued to his. He finds it difficult to turn and go to his rowboat, even when prompted to by one of his guards. Finally, after making sure Rain's face is burned in to his mind, he raises his hand and waves softly to her. She does the same, trying so hard to smile but failing miserably. He joins his men, Jorah, Davos and Gendry in pushing the rowboat out to sea. He doesn't glance back although he feels her eyes watching him go.
It's only when he reaches his ship and descends to his cabin does he finally let his tears fall, as he already misses his love immensely.
