The thick aroma of bacon and maple syrup filled the air around me. It was a sweet and familiar smell to me. Back when I was a kid, my dad would make pancakes and bacon for breakfast whenever he was off work. Which wasn't often but it was always a treat when it did happen. I remember waking up and giggling when I recognized the sugary smell. I would hop out of my blankets and run it to the kitchen. Those were the best days. Back when Mom and Dad still loved each other and I got to sit by the beach every afternoon. But of course that all changed when my mom couldn't handle Dad working all the time and never being there for his kid and wife. After that, I started eating fast food breakfast because Mom's a horrible cook and I would sit by moving boxes instead of the sunset. The memories of the old days made me sad and yet happy.
I finally opened my eyes and sat up in bed. Before I left the room I checked out the window as always. The sun wasn't completely in its highest point, meaning it wasn't quite twelve but was getting close. I started to leave towards the door until I noticed something on the bed in the corner of my eye. I glanced at it and realised it was a fancy black dress with a string of pearls and fancy heels. I shrugged and quickly changed into the outfit. The outfit made me look prim and proper. Like I was some rich lady going to an art gallery to bid on paintings. Then I walked down the hallway to finally see what the sweet smell was. And of course, it was a table full of breakfast foods. Pancakes, biscuits, jam, and French toast all sat on a large wooden dining table that had two matching chairs in the living room. The couch and coffee table had been pushed back closer to the door to make room for the table. I stepped over to the food and used a nearby fork to take a few bites of everything. Suddenly, Thomas walked into the room from the kitchen. He was whistling a catchy tune with his eye closed while carrying a tray of full of bacon. As soon as he put it down on the table he opened his eyes and saw me. He waved and smiled while keeping up the tone. I awkwardly smiled back. Something clearly dawned on him because his eyes went wide and he stopped singing. "(Name)! Y-You weren't supposed to be awake yet..." He messed with a plate on the table. I shrugged and laughed quietly. He tried to smile a little bit but it wasn't a pretty smile. "Um, okay. This will be fine," he talked to himself and waved his hands around. He rushed over to the other side of the table and pulled the chair out. He bowed and looked up at me. I took a seat and he pushed it back up to the table. He pushed me a little too close because I couldn't breathe so I pushed back a little. Thomas went back to the other side and sat down. He smiled at me warmly and put his hands on the table. "As you can see, I have prepared a lovely and fancy meal for us. I know that breakfast foods are your favorite. Especially bacon," he explained while gesturing to the food. I smiled, genuinely for once. But then there was an awkwardly minute where we just stared at each other smiling. "What are you doing?" He suddenly asked. I snapped out of my small daze and shrugged. "Um... I don't know. Wait for you, I guess?" I scratched my neck and looked away to avoid anymore awkwardness. "Oh... I was waiting for you. I want to know if you like the food first," he mumbled, while also looking away. I chuckled nervously and then took out a fork. Thomas turned back to look at me as I tried the pancakes. I kept my eyes on the floor while I ate because Thomas kept staring at me eating. I think he really wanted my approval before he let himself eat. "Sooooo? How is it?" He looked a little worried. I nodded my head and tried to smile with food still in my mouth. I used my hand to cover up my mouth to talk. "It's really good! You should have some," I encouraged him. He shrugged and started to eat. His expression went from unsure to amazement as he chewed the food. "Oh my god! Walker, you have outdone yourself with this meal!" He exclaimed excitedly. My eyes widened at the mention of Walker. I stared down at my food as I realized that Walker was basically Thomas's servant. He cooked for him, he cleaned and drove the car. And all while being abused. I felt my eyes water a bit just thinking about it. I was sitting in luxury while Walker probably had to live in a closet thanks to Thomas. "Are you okay...?" Thomas asked. He was quiet and sounded sincerely scared for me. I blinked my eyes quickly to get rid of the tears and grinned at him. "Of course!" He looked pleased with my answer and continued to eat. A few minutes passed before a question came to mind. "Why are you doing all of this?" I furrowed my eyebrows and gestured to the whole table with my fork. Thomas sighed and bit his lip. "I was afraid you would ask that," he murmured. He sat up straight and looked me straight in the eyes. "To be honest, I'm trying to make up for my mistakes from last night. I have been informed that I was very drunk and... Um... Aggressive as my friend put it. I thought that giving you a good meal would make things better," he explained. I was stunned. Thomas was being a true gentleman. Kind of. "What? Why do you look so freaked out? Is... Is this bad? I shouldn't have done this! I'm so stupid!" He frowned and crossed his arms. I put my hands up and shook my head. "No no no! This is great! Amazing, actually. No one's done that just for me," I was touched. Maybe he wasn't actually such a bad guy.
