You'll know when to play.
17 Days left
34 Pov
After a day of rest after what happened to the Marine, and after retrieving the supplies and Cherry.
"So you finally got some sort of footage?" I ask Cherry as I spin in my chair up in the room.
"It has to be somewhere in my files," She tells me as I put my head in my hands.
Dillan is injured after what happened at the base too. The ODSTs are fine, so is One. He'll be getting a evac in about a day or two.
"I can't find it," Cherry tells me flatly, but still a hint of a disappointment hides behind the monotone voice.
"That's fine."
"Are you sure? Something seems to have you bothered," She asks and answers.
"Yeah I'm good. I'm just thinking about what's gunna happen when I have to leave. This team probably would get split up without me.."
"You must realize that once you actually leave, your fireteam wouldn't be counted as a fireteam. It requires at least five Spartans," She explains to me.
"Hey Cherry, can you play 'Neon Night'?" I ask her a little drowsily.
She almost immediately responds, "Now playing, 'Neon Night'." Just on que the nice mix of music plays.
"I mean. I just can't believe I'm gunna be put in some random new project. They just try to kill me with everything don't they?" I mainly say to myself, but I assume Cherry's listening.
"A Spartan-III has a very troubling and problematic lifestyle, and the absolute chance of you surviving this long is not, and most likely will never be in your favor."
"So this is my life choices: I became a 'Blue' Division Marine, the lowest of all ranks basically. And from there I was given the chance to become a Spartan. Then came the Gamma Company, 'The finest Spartans ever.' Geez. Now they've sent us out to Reach. From popular news of the UNSC, this battle isn't going so well. Their gunna send us out to New Alexandria in a bit.." I lean on one hand now as I release a huge sigh, "I don't even know anymore. If it is as bad as they say, well consider all of us KIA."
Cherry listens in a silence after I finish my huge amount of ranting.
"Uh. Still here?" I ask leaning back and easing off a bit.
"Yes I still remain active," She tells me breaking the silence, "I was comprehending the knowledge you gave me. Very interesting, Spartan- oh. You do not own a last name? Odd."
"Oh, yeah. After all the training with Gamma Company, that was the last thing on my mind," I tell the A.I., "In fact I honestly don't even remember my last name. Its all just a blur beyond all white lines."
"How tragic, I could've easily stored that information for you," She says in the normal voice she has programmed.
"All of this, its just crap. My life is gunna end someday. But when? I don't know," I finish my statement and then realize, "What's gunna happen to you?" I ask Cherry even though I probably wouldn't get a answer that was correct.
"Well, after the grim situation back at my base and then you recovering my program. I would probably take an educated assumption that they'll redirect me to this base," She explains slowly but surely.
"Actually yeah, that would make sense," I agree with her and pick up a normal water bottle that was in the load of stuff we got from their base, and I take a swig after twisting the cap off. "Hopefully you'd do better than me, I've already let someone die, and another come to harm."
"From what I saw, that wasn't your fault. And don't already forget that you saved Jakob's life!" She says with enthusiasm.
"Yeah and look how that turned out," I spit out because all he does is yell, and in a language no one speaks!
"I think it turned out fine."
"I'm sure you do," I sigh and shake my head. "So you ready to ask what's to become of you?"
"Certainly, its finally time to see!" She agrees.
We have to know what to do with her, especially since her whole entire crew has been killed by some sort of creatures. I want to assume it was the Covenant, but the fact that she didn't know bothers me.
I pull my tablet out and open it up fully, then place it on the table.
"I shall return momentarily!" And with that Cherry steps onto the tablet and enters into the digital world on my device.
I swivel in the chair while taking another drink, and then scooch up to the computer that has the cameras attached to the system.
"Let's see here.."
I switch to the Barracks camera so I can see what is going on between Yang and 5000. Their both on opposite ends of the room, training different troops.
5000 has a group of Marine's with Shotguns on one corner of the room, "now using that you can blast all their heads off."
Yang has the vise versa on her side, a group of Marine's holstering Snipers, "... So just stay back?" Yang nods slowly.
I switch the camera. It opens up to the Garage. Sparky like always is working hard on improving the vehicles, actually more specifically the tank. He's been modifying the tank hardcore, it looks almost like its been taken from the future.
There's no pilots being trained, oh, yeah I forgot about Dillan.
I shake off the weird feeling and switch camera's.
It opens up to the Infirmary and the different medic's are all crowded around Dillan, Nick is off in the background head in his hands. "Same," I mutter with agreement.
"Hello I have returned!" I snap my head around immediately to see Cherry back.
"So?"
"I am now the new directive A.I. for this Firebase," She tells me with normality, "Also, are you aware that enemies are approaching this base?"
"Huh, what?"
An explosion sounds off outside.
