Chapter 14; Are you the boss?

Dan’s P.O.V 

‘Alright, let’s do this. Vince, Kaya and I are going to take out those Apibus while Dan and Julie are going inside that room.’ Mila said. ‘Yes!’ We all said as agreement.

‘Five,’ Mila said.

‘Four,’ Vince said.

‘Three,’ Kaya said.

‘Two,’ Julie said.

‘One,’ I finished.

‘Let’s go.’ We said in unison and we moved towards the monsters.

Mila, Vince and Kaya were running in front of us, clearing our way. It wasn’t easy though. I had to shot multiple times at one of those Apibus. They moved fast and dodge almost every single bullet I shot. 

Kaya managed to shoot them down by shooting at them after they dodge my bullets, but they would get up right away. ‘What the hell are these Apibus’ for kinds? They just won’t die!’ Vince said confused. 

 Julie sprinted forward and pushed against the door, but it didn’t open. ‘Tch,’ Julie said as she broke the door by kicking it with full force. ‘Stupid door.’ I was surprised. She kicks through everything. I remembered the time when she knocked me out. I won’t be surprised if she kicked through a wall.

She ran into the room and I followed her. It was huge space. I looked like a store room. Everywhere were stacks of boxes and there was a stage at the other end of the room, probably used for meetings. There were cages hanging in the air, attached against the ceiling. In there were… monsters! 

 ‘Why are those monster trapped in there?’ I asked confused. ‘Because I caught them.’ An familiar voice said. I saw that Julie’s eyes grew wide. ‘It can’t be!’ she whispered. 

I turned my face towards the direction where the voice came from. There was a balcony at the wall that was at the other end of the room above the stage. Standing on the railing was none other than Carver Thomas!

Julie gritted her teeth. ‘Carver, what is the meaning of this?!’ She exclaimed angrily at him. He laughed. ‘You never say hello, do you?’ He said, ignoring her question. ‘Why are those monsters locked in cages?’ Julie exclaimed, ignoring his question. ‘Pff,’ Carver said with a grin on his face. ‘I finished the job of the Blood Mages where they failed.’

I clenched my fists. Joe had told me about when the monsters broke out. They had managed to kill a lot, but most of them disappeared. So the Dark Hounds were also behind this. 

‘Are you the boss, Carver?’ I asked, taking a step forward so that I was in front of Julie. ‘You got the jackpot, son.’ Carver said with a smirk on his face.

Kaya came running into the room we all were. ‘Kaya, where are Vince and Mila?’ I asked. ‘The Apibus flew off and they went after them. I came to help you guys. Julie, I heard you yell Carver’s name, is he here?’ She said out of breath. She turned her face with a look of disgust towards Carver. ‘He is right there.’ she said furious. 

‘Darren? What are you doing here?’ Kaya asked, almost in tears when she saw Carver. ‘Darren? No that’s Carver!’ she said confused. Her eyes grew wide. ‘
