Carrie came barreling into the room and onto my back, knocking me over onto Spider-Mans chest. I heard a sharp intake of breath from him and felt my heart rate increase. I quickly got up and cleared my throat turning to Carrie who was wide eyed, staring at the masked man next to her, who was quick enough to put his mask fully back on.
"pudderman! Lexy PUDDERMAN!"
she screamed and started running in circles around us before falling over and staying there.
"yes, but Carrie it's time for Spider-Man to go, say bye bye!" I said, picking her up and carrying her back to the door. She jumped out of my arms, and waddled back over to him. I sighed and shut the door, knowing I couldn't change her mind.
"pudderman" she said, and he tilted his head to the side in confusion.
"she means Spiderman." I clarified, sitting next to Carrie and she climbed onto my lap. He nodded and looked back to Carrie, who grabbed his big hand with her tiny ones.
"so, can I ask what you're doing here?" I said, still a little in shock at Spider-Man in my room
"what do you mean?" he said and I raised my eyebrow, gesturing towards him
"I mean, what are you doing here?"
He looked down at himself, and the whites of his mask widened, making me wonder if they copied his expression underneath the nask
"oh, shit! Uh," he looked back up at me and I glared
"um, two year old present!" I said, holding my hand up to Carrie, who was poking his web shooters in wonder, accidentally shooting herself and me.
"sorry, I just..." he looked back to the child playing with his hand and shrugged
"forgot she was here."
I nodded and watched as Carrie got up from my lap and danced around Spiderman, chanting in gibberish to herself. Suddenly she stopped and raced back out of the room, shouting again and I heard him chuckle next to me
"well she seems like a handful" he joked and I shrugged
"not usually. She's just a fan." I said and turned back to him. I was still wondering why he came to me but judging by his last response he wasn't sure himself.
"so you said something before, you wanted to tell me something. What's up?" I asked him and he turned back to me.
"Uh, I'm-" just as he started to speak, Carrie came back with a paper clenched in her fist. She dropped it in his lap and he picked it up. I looked over to see that it was her drawing of Spiderman that was hanging on the fridge
"that's me." he said to her and she giggled
"up! Up!" she said and he looked back to me for translation.
"I don't know. I think she wants you in the roof. Actually yeah I wanna see that too, it seems strangely inhumane" I said and he laughed, standing up. Carrie sat on the floor and I stood up as well
The Spider-Man chuckled, and stood up, taller than I was, and jumped, tapping the roof with one hand and staying there. Then he brought his other hand up and pulled himself onto the ceiling, and crouched on the roof above.
Carrie squealed and I laughed along with her. Spiderman tilted his head, and though his mask held no expression, I could've sworn that he was smiling too.
He dropped back onto the floor and Carrie sat beside me, watching his every move.
"so, back to what I was saying...." I raised an eyebrow, and he nodded.
"yeah, sorry, um- I'm, I didn't mean to come here I just, you know, open window, and then I wasn't really thinking so... Sorry?" his voice still sounded fake and deep and his story a little vague, which only piqued my curiosity more, but I nodded, taking his excuse anyway. I watched Carrie play with my fingers, moving on from spiderman, but I could still feel him staring at me as I played with my sister.
"I'm gonna get going now." he said gruffly and I nodded, looking back to him briefly as he moved towards my window.
"alright, well- take care." I said awkwardly and he shrugged slightly, and turned, diving out the window without even touching the frame. I stared at the place he had just disappeared from, slightly in shock from what had just happened, and realised I was alone. Carrie was asleep, so I gently picked her up, and took her into her own room, placing her on her bed and kissing her forehead gently, pulling a blanket up over her. I walked across the hall to my own room, and cringed as I saw the puddle of blood and my desk things strewn everywhere. I picked up the ceramic pen pot I made in third grade, and slowly collected my pens, revising the last twenty minutes in my mind. The blood was easier to clean, with a flick of my hand it vanished, and a thin haze rose from where it was. Almost satisfied with the state of my room now, I picked up the important papers and threw the rest away. There was still a thin line of spider web on the light switch, Wich I pulled off, or attempted to. Grunting, I put all my weight into the little thread and silently swore, dropping it and standing in the middle of the room. The window was still open, and the distant sound of traffic was coming through the window, mixing with the quiet music still coming from my stereo. I tapped the volume button, listening to Taylor Swift grow slightly louder, and sat down on my bed again, singing along under my breath.

I knew you were trouble when you walked in- so shame on me now.

Too true.
