I was sitting in class, hiding my phone in my binder as I shifted between writing notes off the board and playing some silly game I got on my phone to entertain Carrie. Looking up again, I quickly sketched the diagram on the board and copied down the matching paragraph. A text popped up at the top of my phone and I glanced up at the teacher again before checking it.

Rox: according to this I was supposed to get married four years ago. :(
Alexis: shocker
Rox: I didn't get married four years ago!
Alexis: I'm glad, I don't remember you asking for me to be maid of honour.
Rox: watch your tongue missy.

I heard the teacher two the board with his ruler, and looked up again, hurriedly writing down more of his lecture before going back to my phone.

Alexis: there's a game tonight
Rox: are we going?
Alexis: yea let's.
Rox: alright done.
Rox: if u want to be my maid of honour ur paying for my soda
Alexis: in that case I'm having some second thoughts...

I quickly turned my phone off, ignoring whatever texts came through next and smirking to myself. The teacher spoke up and I forced myself to pay attention, reading over what I had written and trying to figure out what he was talking about. Not long after, the bell rang for lunch, and I got up to pack my things, preparing to leave so I could get food before everyone took whatever good food there was.
Roxy caught up with me when I was almost at the front of the line, ignoring the glares of the students behind us as she pushed past to get to me.
"so, it's last period right?" she asked and I nodded. The school allowed the students the chance to 'participate in the school spirits' by watching their team play, an opportunity that was much appreciated.
"fourth and fifth." I answered and she hummed, picking up a tray and holding out as the lunch lady's served her.
"alright then, we can just go after lunch is over." she said and I nodded, picking up at apple and biting into it as we weaved our way through the cafeteria to find a seat. I dug into my food, only mildly distracted from my conversation as Peter walked in, and my eyes followed him as we hurried to get his food, and sat down at a table with Ned, MJ sitting at the opposite side and paying no attention to what was happening around her. I looked away and saw Roxy, wearing a knowing smirk.
"you know, I except a lot of details when we have more than ten minutes, but I'm surprised you haven't just leapt across the cafeteria to snog the guy." she said and I almost choked on my now finished apple, laughing loudly.
"are you serious? Who even says snog." I asked her and she shrugged, calmly sipping her water.
"only those of sophosticated language such as myself." she replied as the bell rang, and the sound of scraping chairs filled the room as everyone rushed to get a good seat to watch. Roxy and I had already decided we would sit at the back, and knowing we would have no trouble finding a seat, we were less hurried.
"sophisticated my ass." I replied snarkily, and she grinned mischievously. By the time we had gotten into the halls, there was almost no one around, except the sports coach, who was running towards us, looking menacing and buff as usual.
"girls, were you about to head to the game?" she asked, and we both nodded.
"great, would you mind running in and getting the scoring sheets? I've just left them on my desk but I was really supposed to be at the field already- great well hurry along, the game will start soon." with that, she turned on her heel and strides out to the field, and Roxy shrugged, changing directions to the staff room instead. Knocking on the door before entering, we quickly explained what we were asked to do and whichever teacher it was that opened the door let us in, looking quite reluctant to do so. The papers were in fact where coach had said they would be and I gathered them up before hurriedly leaving, the teacher looked stern and I didn't want to be on the receiving end of her disapproving looks much longer.
"okay well, if we hurry maybe she won't notice we're late?" Roxy suggested and I nodded, speeding up my pace to get out the the field. "Alexis!" Peter was behind me, I recognised his voice immediately and I smiled.
"hi Peter." I stopped, making Roxy run into me, and almost fall backwards.
"ow, okay thanks for warning me." she huffed, before looking between me and Peter, and sighing dramatically.
"fine, but hurry up." she grumbled, already understanding my unspoken request. I smiled thankfully and she winked over her shoulder, before dissapearing around the corner. I resumed my walking and waited for Peter to speak. However, he didn't for a while.
"so, how have you been?" he asked, unconvincingly, as if he wasn't even sure what he was saying. I smiled.
"not too different than when I saw you this morning to be honest." I joked and Peter laughed halfheartedly.
"is there something you wanted to tell me?" I ventured and Peter looked alarmed, clearly not having planned to have been put on the spot.
"why? I mean, I don't know?" he stuttered and I flicked my eyes over to where I could already be the first cheers from outside.
"oh, alright well I'm supposed to be giving these to coach so then I should get going." I told him and he nodded, deep in thought.
"alright, I'll go with you." he said and I nodded, walking faster as Peter was silent beside me quickly checking my watch, I cringed to see that the game was supposed to have started already. Damn.
"actually, there is something I wanted to tell you." he decided but I didn't slow down,
"that's fine, but please hurry, I'm actually late." I said, speeding up once more.
