"well, it's not really something I can just say, I mean, maybe you should stop running away from me?" he said and I apologized again.
"I can't, I'm really supposed to be there now, but I promise after, I'm sorry I didn't realise how little time I had." I veered around another corner but Peter didn't leave.
"Lexa, I have to talk to you." Peter said, following behind me as I hurried through the halls, aiming to get back to the field before the game started.
"not right now Peter, I really have to get back" I said and shoved the door open with my shoulder, my arms full of loose papers for the coach.
"Lexa, it's really important." he pleaded, walking beside me and trying to keep up with my mad pace
"can it wait? I'm really late, i had to give in these like ten minutes ago and I don't want to get in trouble."
"Lexa!"
"Peter!"
He huffed and continued behind me
"Lexa, seriously!" he said, and I heard a sling and felt my waist being jerked back, and spun around into his body. I pushed him off my chest and laughed
"really Peter, I have to go." I said, rearranging the papers in my arm and turning back to door
"Alexis, look at me!" he said and I turned and raised my eyebrow
"okay, what is it then?" I asked and he glanced behind me quickly.
"I have to tell you something." his sincere tone made me forget the job I had momentarily.
"yeah?"
Peter took a deep breath and I started to get worried with his soberness
But before he could utter a word, Roxy banged her fist in the door, demanding I hurry up and get to the court. I gave an apologetic look to Peter and cringed as Roxy continued attempting to bash down the door. "ALEXIS! Stop making out with Peter and get your ass out here, the game starts in like four seconds!" I huffed and Peter dropped his gaze to the floor, clearing his throat.
"haha. I'm coming, just give me a second!" I called out to her and turned back to Peter.
"I'm so sorry, but I really need to go, I'm already going to be in trouble, can you save me a seat?" I said to him and he shook his head
"sorry, i'm not watching this game." Peter said, glancing out the window next to us and I frowned.
"you're not? Okay well I'll see you later-"
"Alexis NOW!" Roxy cut me off again I flinched, planting a quick kiss on his cheek and hurrying out the door.
"sorry Peter, I'll call you after!" I said behind me and he nodded
"be careful!" he called after me and I smiled, rushing along the rest of the way with Roxy.
"be careful? Does he realise you're not actually playing in the game?" Roxy asked and I shrugged, glancing behind me to see Peter gone.
We got out the field late, and the coach lectured us before taking the papers, and announcing the game would start in one minute. Roxy and I weaved out way through the crowd to sit at the back of the bleachers and watch the game. We used to sit at the front, and watch flash play even though I wasn't a fan of the screaming cheerleaders and shouting teammates. So since flash and I broke up, we sat further back, to enjoy each others company and the game without the noise.
"what's that?" Roxy asked and I turned
"what's what?" she pulled at the back of my sweater and showed me a thick, sturdy white stringy material.
"wait, this is spiderweb!" I cried and looked around, stupidly expecting too see Spiderman sitting in the bleachers with everyone else. An image of Spiderman wearing our school blazer floated in front of my eyes and I fought the desire to laugh.
"that's one big ass spider." she said and I snorted, unable to stop it this time.
"Spiderman, Roxy." I hinted at her and her face lit up with recognition and then confusion.
"why is he here?" she said and I shrugged, slowly filled with dread as different scenarios flashed through my mind, none of them ending spectacularly.
"who knows." I said, turning to focus as cheers went through the crowd as our team ran onto the field. Why was he here? Roxy tapped my shoulder and I looked at her
"what?"
"why are you so worried?" she asked me and I frowned.
"because, if Spiderman needs to be here, then something's wrong." I told her exasperated and she shook her head.
"no, if Spiderman's here, then we'll be fine if does go wrong." she pointed out, raising an eyebrow and I and I bit my lip, nodding. That was more logical. Nothing to worry about. I let out a breath and watched as the other team ran on to the field, holding up their arms to the cheering people sitting in the grandstands.
"so what did Peter have to say?" Roxy asked and I shrugged, watching as the coach blew the whistle and the ball flew I to the air.
"I dunno, ran out of time before he could say anything, but he seemed serious about it." I told her and Roxy hummed.
"oh well, he can always tell you later." she told me and I nodded, scanning the many people to find familiar brown hair, but knowing I wouldn't succeed.
"yeah, later." I muttered, facing the game again.
