"you're Spiderman!" I cried and he shushed me quickly, a pleading expression over his face, for what? I wasn't sure.
"I know! Shush, Alexis please, please just let me explain!" he held onto my upper arms tightly with his gloves hands and I was unable to stop my eyes flicking up and down. Spiderman, with Peters head. Peter was wearing a Spiderman suit- the Spiderman suit. It was so different to his normal attire that I had difficulty believing it was Peter at all.
"explain, how- what?" I sputtered and he pressed his lips against mine, shutting me up as he had the first time he was in my home.
"can I talk now?" he asked and I shook my head, opening my mouth to speak and he kissed me again, forcing the words back into my mouth.
"stop doing that I'm trying-" I was cut off again, and I finally shut up, brows furrowed at him.
"let me explain. I'm Spiderman, I know, but listen, I'm still Peter, i'm still me. Alright? Just because I'm spiderman- no, i'm not finished, please just let me talk." he cut me off when I made every move to interrupt again and I shut my mouth.
"about a year ago, I was bitten by one of the spiders from a lab that was experimenting with radioactive energy, and the spiders venom supposedly transferred some of that into me, so I was able to do many things like a spider, I can carry multiple times my own weight, stick to surfaces, stuff like that, it's hard to explain. But I promise, I wasn't trying to hide it from you, I just- what?" he asked, confused. Despite the situation, I had started to laugh.
"what?" Peter repeated and i struggled to contain myself, clapping my hand over my mouth.
"you had radioactive venom in your body causing some kind of mutation and most likely being very harmful, and you decided to become a superhero? You're such a nerd!" I laughed, pleased to see his face flush in the light.
"well at least you're getting used to the idea." he mumbled, letting go of my arms and stepping back as I bit back more laughter, watching him. It was so strange to see Peter in the suit, completely red and blue except for his head.
"nice suit." I said to him and he smiled a little.
"Tony Stark made it for me." he says and I raised my eyebrows.
"seriously? Any other perks of super-heroism I should know?" I asked and his smile widened.
"I once stole Captain Americas shield." he said proudly and I smiled back.
"did he beat your ass?"
"excuse me?"
"did he beat your ass?" I repeated and Peter looked slightly offended, if not a little sheepish.
"well, not really, it was kind of an even fight." he mumbled and I walked forwards to him.
"you know, this sorts out a lot of emotional trauma for me, I felt bad cause I kinda had a crush on Spiderman." I admitted and Peter rolled his eyes, but he looked slightly relieved.
"really. You just found out I was secretly spiderman, so you call me a nerd, ask if i got my ass kicked and tell me you have a crush on me." he concluded and I smiled.
"I guess I did." I replied, humming softly. I walked forwards to where he was standing, and lifted my hands to trace some of the webbings on his suit, listening to him breath and trying to soak in what I had heard.
"I have extensive hearing too." he whispered and I tilted my head.
"what do you mean?"
"I mean, I can hear you breath, and I can hear your heartbeat, and I can hear your watch and the traffic outside and the people, and I can hear the elevator outside your apartment door." he told me and I shut my eyes, trying to hear the same. I couldn't. The window wasn't open enough for me to hear outside, and I couldn't hear either of our heartbeats, though I hoped they were both there. The apartment was silent aside from the two of us talking. I opened my eyes to see that he had moved closer, and was studying my face intently. I stared back, determined not to blush under his intensive gaze.
"and I can see better. I could count your eyelashes, you know, or I could pick up your entire book case. Or you." his eyes hadn't left my face, only moving closer and I was feeling a little breathless.
"I thought you were trying to prove to me that you're still just Peter." I told him and he nodded.
"yeah, I'm just Peter." he closed his eyes and moved closer still. I lifted my hands to his face, and didn't move. Peter Parker was Spiderman. The more I thought about it, the now I got used to it, but it was still not normal. At all. But he wasn't pushing me to accept it, he was telling me how it was, and this is how it was. I knew he was waiting for my final reaction, it was up to me what I did with the information I now had gained. So I sighed again, although in contentment this time, and kissed Peter Parker as if nothing had changed.
