The party wasn't bad. I sat with a drink in my hands, watching Roxy flirt shamelessly with her French class friend, and swirling the liquid around my red solo cup.
"Hey Alexis." a voice behind me said and I shut my eyes, groaning silently.
"yes Flash?" I said politely, wishing my cup was a little more full.
"so, I wanted to apologize about the whole thing the other day." he told me and I raised my eyebrow, waiting for said apology.
"okay?" I said and he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. An action I used to find attractive, and now I had no reaction. However I could see Peter doing the same...
I snapped back to reality to see Flash still talking.
"-and I just want the best for you." he said and I blinked.
"um, what?" I stuttered and he repeated.
"I don't think you should be messing around with that Parker guy, he's just too quiet and weird, he's just not right for you. Like I said, I want the best for you, so-"
"and you're supposed to know who's right for me?" I suggested, once again wishing for a full cup.
"well, I'm just saying he's not the kind of guy you want to be associated with." he mumbled, clearly regretting coming over in the first place.
"associated with? May I remind you that being associated with you got me cheated on, so you think I'm going to take your advice on who to talk too?"
I said angrily and flash rolled his eyes.
"for gods sake, you cheated on me first!" he claimed and I rolled my eyes, chugging the drink and trying not to cough as the strong alcohol hit my throat.
"I am not having this conversation again." I groaned and Flash scoffed
"again? You mean your not having this conversation, period. Whatcha gonna do? Parker's not around to save you this time Alexis." he growled and my heart stopped dead, a flash of fear running through me.
Ironic.
"Flash, how much have you had to drink?" I asked, either and he rolled his eyes.
"why am I bothering?" he muttered, and stalked off. I let out a shaky breath and went to the kitchen to refill my cup.
Rum, whiskey, coke, vodka.
I pulled out the bottle and took a large swig, pouring another two shots into my cup and leaving the bottle on the bench, and going to search for Roxy.
I walked around the party for a quarter of an hour, doing my drink, and dodging sweaty bodies in search of my best friend. I stumbled as another drunk highschooler veered around me, and almost lost my balance. Blinking hard, I realized my vision was going fuzzy, and I shook my head, trying to clear it as I made my way back to the entrance. I'll text Roxy, and walk home.
But which way do I go?
Groaning, I finished my drink, tossing the cup into the floor and pulling out my phone. 11% battery, shoot. I sent a text to Roxy, telling her I was leaving, and paused, my finger hovering over Peters name, before I made a quick decision, and pressed call."Lexa?"
"hi, um, I'm at the party and I was wondering if I could come over to your place?"
"are you okay?"
"I'm fine Peter, it's just really far to walk home and I don't entirely know where I am?"
I bit my lip and dropped my eyes to the floor.
"where are you?"
"definitely queens, but I don't know the nearest subway station, I'm at this guy's house, Jason, maybe?"
There was silence from the other end.
"I'll come to you, hold on." his warm voice echoed through me and a wave of releif swept over.
"okay."
"see you soon."
I hung up the phone and brushed a few stray hairs out of my face, walking back inside, and waiting for Peter to get here.
I finally spotted Roxy sitting on the stairs with the guy in her French class, Jason or Jack or something. I walked over to her, the heat and chaos of the party making me feel drunker than I was.
"Roxy! I was looking for you, I'm about to head off." I told her and she giggled, clearly drunker than I was.
"okay, fine. but first, shots!" she called out, grabbing three from a plate next to her and handing one to me. Looking inside the glass, I saw a dark red jello shot and shrugged. Roxy's almost broke her glass, smashing it against mine, and I tilted my head back, using my tongue to dig out the jelly.
"okay, text me when you get home, and don't take anymore shots, you're already drunk." I cautioned her and Roxy nodded. I left her and her French friend alone, wandering around aimlessly, and trying to avoid flash. there a low buzzing in my ears and i felt sluggish. I'll just sit here till Peter comes. Blinking hard, I found my way to the couch and moved to sink down into it, when two people making out took my place. Once again, I almost lost my balance trying not to sit on them, and I felt warm hand steadying me.
"Peter." I stated, blinking at the taller figure who nodded in confirmation.
"that was quick, I thought you'd be a while." I told him, only half paying attention as he led me outside.
"well, I was in the area. I'll take you back to my place but I think it's too late for you to go home, would your dad mind you staying over?" I shook my head slowly, and he let go of my arms for a short second, before I tilted sideways and his arms shot around my middle.
"how much did you drink?" he asked and I shrugged, stifling a yawn.
"enough, most likely." I mumbled, and he smiled a little, holding me upright as we walked back to his apartment.
