It was the last day of school before winter break, and the school seemed more relaxed because of it. The students were more upbeat, and a lot more Christmas decorations adorned people's outfits. I was wearing an emerald green sweater, skinny jeans, and a red scarf. I met up with Roxy halfway down the main hall, who's wavy black hair was pulled up in a messy bun, light brown and green eyes bright and contrasting against her long lashes. Her voice was slightly muffled behind her navy coat as she greeted me.
"have you seen Peter?" I asked her, and she shook her head, laughing.
"well, this is earlier than usual. I think you're getting more desperate, Miss Carter." she joked, and I shook my head.
"no! I still have to tell him about the whole L-word thing from the night I was drunk." I explained and Roxy snorted.
"love, Alexis. Love. Chill out, you're like a kid that won't say sex." I burst out laughing, causing several people to look over.
"alright, then. I'm going to try talk to him before class."
"so you can escape awkwardness with English?" she suggested, and I nodded grinning. She snorted again, sipping her steaming drink and shaking her head at me.
"you're a chicken." she said.
"bawk-bawk." I joked, agreeing and making her cough up her drink, holding her nose, laughing obnoxiously loudly. I spotted Peter across near the doors, and left Roxy to choke on her drink alone. Ducking under the arm of some senior student, I made my way over to him, interrupting Peter and Ned before they could even say hi.
"remember the night I slept with you?" I said, and Peters mouth dropped open. Both boys went red and Ned muttered something before skittering off in the direction of the toilets. I turned back to Peter and ignored his stammering, interupting again.
"do you? When I got drunk and stayed with you." I stated and he burned brighter before nodding.
"you said I said some weird stuff, what did I say?"
I waited patiently for Peter to calm down, and compose a reply.
"nothing, don't worry about it." he repeated, and I shook my head. He sighed, looking over my head for eavesdroppers before backing closer to the corner, and taking my hand so that I would too.
"I told you I loved you, didn't I." I said quietly, and was prepared for Peter to blush again, but he didn't. He stared into my eyes, flicking from one to the other, before dropping his eyes down to the floor.
"yes."
I bit my lip, and looked over at the students milling around. I saw Roxy give me a thumbs up, cured of her coughing fit, but looking a little red eyed.
"and?" I urged him to continue, and he looked up again.
"and what?"
"does that make it weird? Or should we just, um, forget it?" I suggested, but Peter shook his head.
"it's nothing Lexa, you were drunk. I'm surprised you even remember it at all." he had a strange look in his eye and I looked over to Roxy once more for reassurance, before continuing.
"I'm sorry I said it, I know it would have been kind of awkward, so... Sorry." Peter shook his head, relaxing tension from my shoulders.
"it wasn't that awkward, you were out like a log a few seconds later." he chuckled and I smiled gratefully.
"if you say so." I said, and he smiled.
"don't worry Lexa." he assured me, squeezing my hand, before dropping it once another student wolf whistled.
"okay, well I should probably pull Ned out of wherever he ran. I'll see you later." I nodded and we split ways, me heading back to Roxy, to answer the questions I knew she would have.I was in my seat next to Glory again, although this time I was joined by Peter. Peter was trying his hardest to ignore the two of us talking, to focus on his work. The teacher had decided that he would be fun, and was playing Christmas carols in class. I was singing along, Glory laughing. He shook his head, glancing up to the clock and waiting for the bell to ring. Peter rolled his eyes as I finished another songs, cheeks red.
"aren't you sick of that yet?" he asked, both amused and exasperated. I stuck my tongue out at him, grinning.
"never." I teased, and he glanced at the teacher, to make sure she wasn't watching, then leaned over and caught my tongue in a French kiss. He pulled back and raised his eyebrow.
"now are you done?" he asked and I laughed, jumping out of my chair and hiding behind Glory, singing louder. Glory was almost in tears, and Peter rolled his eyes again, giving up. Once the bell rang, he sighed in releif, stashing his book away and standing up to leave. I heard him mutter under his breath
"someone save me." he mumbled and I laughed, catching up with him.
"save yourself, Spiderman." I said, and he shushed me, grinning.
"it's winter break." he said, and I nodded, looking towards the door where students were streaming out, cheering.
"Yup. No more school." I hummed, and he adjusted his bag over his shoulder.
"well, I'll see you around." I said, walking down the stairs at the front doors, and Peter nodded, heading his own way.
"yeah, see you." I smiled and started walking towards home. I told Uncle Jack I would stop by the waffle house, and I was already looking forward to the heating in the building. Shivering, I pulled out my headphones again, and started playing music, walking down the cold streets of New York City.
