I cringed when my water bottle clattered to the floor, and froze, waiting to hear a stirring in the room next door.

I was trying to keep quiet as I pulled things from my cupboard and stuffed them into my school backpack,
I had planned my whole operation in my head, but I knew if I woke up dad or uncle jack, I would end up grounded with my door nailed shut for the rest of high school.

I took a deep breath and picked up my bottle, slowly putting it in my bag and reaching for my sneakers. I had the pocket of my leather jacket, and stopped by my bedside table to put the picture of my family into my bag before silently moving to the door.

I hesitated then sighed, going back and taking the crumpled picture of me and peter out of the box and and tucking it into my pocket as well

Just in case.

The nect part of my plan was simple, I muffled my foot steps as I went downstairs, pulling the note out of my pocket, and opening it.

Dad
Sorry, but I think you would have expected this anyway. I can finally help and do something with my power for once, and I promise I'll come back.
This is something I have to do, if you need me I'll be in Wakanda :)
I love you
Alexis

I sighed and left the note of the kitchen table, where I knew he would see it in the morning.

Jack woke with a start as the front door clicked shut, and turned on the bedside lamp, listening for the sound of someone walking through the apartment, but it didn't come. He left his room and clicked the light to the living room on, catching sight of a piece of paper on the otherwise clear dining table

Oh gods.

"Jay, get up." He called, and was joined a few seconds later by his twin, and handed him the note from his beloved niece.

He sighed and massages his temples.

"Get dressed, were going to get her" he said determined and jack shook his head.

"You know she's right."

Jay stared at his brother like he had grown and extra head, then groaned, sitting at the dining table with the paper crushed in his hand.

"So now we wait?" He said dejectedly and jack nodded, placing a big hand on his brothers shoulder.

"She'll come home."

•••••••••••••

I stood on the rooftop of the building, shielding my face from the wind that whipped my hair around my head, and took a deep breath.

Okay, you can do this. Just focus, remember how it was last time.

Putting my hands together, I formed a ball of energy between my palms, and let the warmth of it run through me, concentrating.

I let out a slow breath and shut my eyes, focusing on my memory of Wanda's red power, and remembering how it felt as she was in my head, until I could feel it again, and knew I had succeeded.

Alexis?

Her accent comforted me and made it easier to concentrate on keeping the connection.

I'm on the roof.

I felt her smile and the connection got easier, she was coming here. I collapsed the ball in my hands and took another deep breath, wrapping my mother's jacket tighter around me and waiting for them to come.

I was beginning seriously question my decision to come when a triangular shaped plane appeared in the distant skyline, and I watched as it came closer until it was hovering in front of me, and the back opened to a ramp.

Okay, we're doing this, I can do this.

I awkwardly stood outside, waiting as Wanda walked down the ramp next to a floating red man with a glowing yellow stone in his forehead. I knew this was vision, and stood still waiting for them to reach me.

"You're in?" She asked me, a small smile across her face and I barely moved my head in a nod. My mother and sisters face filled my mind, and I forced myself to be more firm in my answer

"Yes, I'm in."

The next few hours were very focussed, I was interrogated by Sargent Rhodes and how well I could actually use my powers, and then he was lectured by Captain America and Wanda to back off a little

"I'm just making sure she can hold herself up, I'm not babysitting- okay, okay! I'm done."

Tony and Steve Rogers has filled me on the plan which really seemed pretty basic, attack head on, don't let them into the city, and keep them away from the stone.

So far I had a solid mindset, and my focus was on keeping my family safe.

Tony came over and sat down beside me, moving mechanically in his suit.

"Look kid, I don't wanna destroy your mojo, we really need your twinkle hands, but I'm warning you now, the other kids been invited too.

I blinked hard, and the steady picture in my mind flickered, and was replaced by warm brown eyes and mussed up waves.

"Oh." I shut my eyes and rubbed my face with my hands.

"I know you didn't want him too know, but trust me, he's a good kid. He cared about you and he isn't going to run when he finds out." He clarified and I sighed, looking at my hands.

"I'm not sure about that. Is there any way he won't find out though?" I asked, looking up at the older man, who half laughed, and nodded

"Easily."

The captain walked forward from the pilots seat to face the group of people around him, Wanda, myself, iron man, black widow, Rhodes, vision, Bruce banner and Sam Wilson. They had introduced them earlier but some I was still too intimidated to use names.

"We're almost there, prepare yourself. We meet up with Bucky and T'challa, and we know the first after that," his voice was clear and strong with authority ringing through, his blue eyes piercing each of us in turn. I tried to ignore the bubbling feeling in my stomach, unsure if it was magic or nerves, but when I turned to Wanda she was still facing the captain.

"And remember, whatever happens, we protect Wakanda."
