"okay, having some doubts." I said, my jaw dropping as Peter dragged me towards the giant avengers tower, previously stark industries.
"why? This place is awesome!" Peter replied, still tugging my hand and I turned my shocked gaze to him.
"I know, but I'm still not sure why he even asked." I mumbled and Peter shrugged, smiling slightly.
"don't worry. He most likely just wants to ask some questions or something. Anyway, just give it a shot. Then you can go back home."
"I will." I said, although nerves were now jittering around my stomach. Taking a deep breath, I allowed Peter to pull me into the building. The clean white interior showed how expensive it was, and I was awestruck.
"pretty cool huh." said Peter, noticing me.
"yeah, it is." I responded, still staring. Peter had a tight grip on my hand, and was leading me towards the elevators, so I just let him take me, choosing instead to look around. Once we were in the elevator, and the smooth metallic doors slid shut, I dropped my gaze back to Peter.
"so where is this place we're going to?" I asked him but he didn't answer, smiling mysteriously, he pressed a button, and an official sounding voice echoed out.
Please state your name and business.
"um, Peter Parker and Alexis Carter, for Mr Stark." Peter said, and I stared at him. "how much money did this guy have?" I hissed and Peter looked uncomfortable.
"well, I think he's a millionaire, he she's have a tower. Are you that surprised?"
"and you believed he wanted to meet me after only hearing my name?" I said, concerned about the whole scheme, but Peter put his hands on my shoulders.
"I know, but he's not going to hurt you. If anything happens, I'll come in, alright?" he said and I bit my lip. I had a small suspicion of what would happen with Mr Stark, and I felt like a child in trouble. The elevator hummed and rose, and I knew Peter was aware of my anxiousness, because he held tight to my hand. I smiled at him, and waited for the doors to ding open as the humming slowed and stopped. There was a tall woman with strawberry blonde hair and a clipboard smiling as we stepped out into the big room. It was multistoreyed, with glass windows making up the walls, a marble bar and shelves with glass bottles of coloured alcoholic liquids and smooth leather couches. Sitting on one of these couches was three other people. The first I recognised easily as Tony Stark, wearing sunglasses and a suit jacket, Steve Rogers, who I could also tell easily and a girl that looked older than me. She also had reddish hair, wearing a red leather jacket and a corseted style top, but I didn't recognise her. However, I felt a twinge inside me, that I did recognised as magic. Clenching my fingers shut, the girl raised her eyebrow at Tony, who stood up, shaking his arms out.
"Alexis. I'm sure you know me, and cap here, a friend of your great-grandmothers, I've heard." at the name, I looked up at Captain America, who acknowledged me with a nod.
"and this," he motioned to the girl,
"is Wanda. Maximoff." I nodded slowly, and Tony put his hand out to shake, which I did.
"okay." I couldn't think of anything else to say. They already knew who I was and I couldn't honestly say it was nice to meet them, my heart seemed to be lodged somewhere in my stomach because of them.
"Peter if you'll excuse us." Tony led Peter out the door, who sent me an encouraging smile that I returned halfheartedly. The doors shut behind him but I knew Peter was still listening.
"you seem like a smart girl so I'm going to guess that you know why you're here." tony said, not unkindly and I nodded slowly again. He walked over to the bar and was pressing buttons I couldn't see, talking as if to the marble bench top and not me.
"yes, well I tend to have a lot of people in line to get my money, so I'm gonna be straight with you." he finally turned back to me and I glanced to the door. Peter could hear every word Tony said, along with whatever came out of my mouth as well.
"okay." I said again and Tony poured himself some whiskey, ignoring the other two in the room.
"drink?"
"I'm sixteen."
"that was a trick question, you passed." he said and I nodded again, confused.
"well, I'll leave it up to Wanda now, so have fun kid." I frowned, and turned to the girl. I immediately thought her more likeable than Mr Stark, she looked kinder, but her eyes were old.
"may I?" she held up her hand, her voice carrying a thick accent.
"may you what?" just then her fingers glowed and a familiar aura that I knew so well weaved around her fingertips, although red, not the violet I was used too. My eyes widened and it took all my willpower for to raise my own hands in defence, but I kept them at my sides, eyeing her magic. But somehow, something in my head told me to trust her. She met my eyes, and I had a feeling she knew exactly what I was hiding. I glanced over at Mr Stark, his brows were furrowed, and it seemed he didn't know what was happening anymore, but was watching the turn of events anyway. I looked back at Wanda and tried to look unconcerned.
"sure, go ahead." I said to her, and she closed her eyes, pressed her hand on my arm and the room in avengers tower disappeared like paint down a drain.
