The two men amazingly convinced me to get into the car with them, which goes against everything I stand for but I also have nothing else to live for since I literally live on the street but let's not discuss that right now.
"You have quite a groovy mutation." The one spoke, I believe Charles was his name. I frowned at him for using the word groovy but ignored it as the other, Erik, spoke.
"The word groovy doesn't come close to your mutation." Erik spoke not taking his eyes off of the road in front of him even though Charles was driving.
I never ended up speaking a word the entire ride until we pulled up to the so called government facility they said I would be staying at. Comforting.
Charles and Erik got out of the car and began walking towards the entrance followed by me slowly getting out of the car wondering what I just got myself into. The building was dark and gray similar to a prison but of course, the big letters on the sign outside reading CIA was slightly reassuring.
"It's time for you to meet the others." Charles said making me frown in confusion, again. "Others?"
He opened a door to one of the rooms with big windows on either side. I walked in slowly making the others look over at me with welcoming eyes. The blonde stood up walking over to me, "Raven." She said sticking out her hand. She froze staring into my eyes.
"Althea." I said back before shaking her hand. The door closed behind me signaling Charles had left, leaving me with the others who were soon to become like family.
"Your eyes are," She started. "Exquisite." She whispered. I furrowed my eyebrows at her, thats an interesting word to describe my eyes. "I've never heard that one before, I usually get bizarre... or terrifying." I smirked keeping eye contact with her.
"We were just getting to know each other." She said sitting down, I followed her and sat down on the floor leaning against the table in between them all.
I shared glances with everyone starting with Raven and ending with the blonde jerk looking guy next to her. I'll admit, he's extremely attractive but with his stuck up looking attitude and the leather jacket he seems to have the 'too cool for school' attitude.
"We should think of code names, we're government agents now. We should have secret code names." Raven started saying, looking around to everyone, "I want to be called Mystique." She smirked.
"Damn I wanna be called Mystique." The ginger said making us laugh.
"Well tough, I called it." Scales flipped all over her body making her appearance the exact same as the ginger. Everyone jumped back in complete shock.
"And I'm way more mysterious than you are." She said staring at him before everyone started applauding her, I stared at her completely dumbfounded; her mutation is way more convenient than mine.
She started laughing before looking over to the couch across from her, "Darwin, what about you?"
"Well uh, Darwin's already a nickname and you know, it sorta fits." He said nodding his head causing me to squint at him. "Adapt to survive and all. Check this out." He continued before getting up and strutting over to the fish tank against the wall.
We all turned to watch him as he dunked his head into the water forming gills on his face. He opened his mouth to breathe taking us all by surprise.
"Woo."
"Wow."
And more applauding followed before he stood up thanking us.
"What about you?" He asked pointing to the ginger before grabbing a towel, if you can't tell I still don't know his name so Ginger Boy he is.
"I'm going to be... Banshee." He said smiling slightly.
