10. "I'll be there."

"Did you really think I was going to hit you?" Alex asked making me jump as he caught up with me once I left the bunker.

"Of course not." I lied before turning to look at him.

"You're such a bad liar." He joked before reaching out and quickly grabbing onto my sides pinning me against the wall. I smirked up at him.

"I am not." I insisted.

"Okay then tell me a lie."

I thought about it for a second while staring him in the eyes. I smiled, "I. Hate. You." I spoke with light pauses in between each word, this only made him smirk more.

"Lies." He whispered. His eyes drifted to my lips, him trying to lean in and kiss me but I only let our lips briefly touch before I snuck out of his grip. I began walking away knowing that he was closely watching me.

"I don't lie Alex. Maybe you're just in denial." I laughed before hands made their way around my waist again. This time pulling me around to face him, "Shut up." He said and smashed his lips onto mine.

A coughing noise made us pull away from each other, my head sinking into his chest. I could feel him laughing from his chest rising and falling quickly.

"Oh please don't pay attention to me. I'm just passing through the house. You know that's completely wide and open in front of everyone." Sean laughed with a slight smirk behind his voice. I couldn't help but laugh too.

"Thanks Sean." Alex spoke up.

"No problem." He yelled over to us.

"Oh my god." I whispered into his chest. He held me out in front of him, "Where were we?" He smirked.

I jokingly rolled my eyes, "Cliche."

"Mhm." He hummed as our lips made their way back to each other, slowly moving in sync.

He pushed me backwards against another wall, this time kissing the side of my mouth then running up the stairs. I ran after him but he was gone. I proceeded to walk down the hall a little before arms wrapped around my waist again, this time lifting me up in the air. I let out a squeak and a small laugh before he sat me back down to my feet and kissed my neck.

I started to laugh before pushing off of him and running down the hall of our bedrooms. I didn't get very far before he pulled me back by my hand into his bedroom.

"That was rude." I stated making him laugh. He locked the door after closing it and fell on the bed next to me. As we both laid on our backs staring at each other, smiles began to form on our faces. It wasn't long before I was on top of his lap kissing him more.

He smiled into the kiss, flipping us over so he was on top.

He kissed down my stomach before stopping once he got to the hem of my pants. He looked like he suddenly had a lot on his mind and I knew it was about to be said.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." He shook his head sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Alex. Seriously, what is it?"

He hesitated at first, "I don't know how to say it or even what to say. I'm not good with things like this." He admitted making me smile. I rested my head on his shoulder, "Take your time, just know that I am listening." I spoke as I rubbed circles into his hand.

"All the time." I finished. He looked down at me and smiled.

With a deep breath, he began to spill his guts. "I'm not good with relationships, I've never had one. I put up this wall when I discovered my mutation and it caused me to push people away. I don't know how to act around you, you're tearing that wall down and it's scaring me." He spoke quickly causing him to breathe heavy.

"Why does that scare you?"

"It- it scares me because I don't want to hurt you." He glanced down at me, a worried expression plastered on his face. I could tell this was hard for him to admit being that he was the "bad boy" of the group.

"You aren't going to hurt me." I reassured. "I trust you."

"I can't promise that." He said before standing to his feet. He paced for a few seconds before turning back to me as I sat still on the bed comprehending what he meant by that.

"Thea." He spoke trying to get me to look at him. "Thea."

I slowly locked eyes with him, defeat washing over his.

"I can't hurt you. Not like everyone else in my life."

I didn't respond.

"Thea."

"What?" I asked monotone.

"Please say something."

"What am I supposed to say? Do you want me to say sorry? Sorry that I was the one who pushed you away first but was willing to try and now you're the one pushing me away?"

He shook his head, "I want to try. I want you. I just don't want to hurt you."

"Alex. You aren't going to hurt me. I can handle myself. And I trust you, I trust that you won't do that. I know what you're feeling. Everything is really hard to adjust to right now but we're doing it together." I stood so I was right in front of him.

"I don't want you to handle yourself, at least not all the time. I want to be there with you." He admitted.

I smiled a small smile, "Then be there."

He grabbed onto my hands and rubbed circles on them, hesitating looking into my eyes but after a few minutes he did. "Okay." He smiled. "I'll be there."
