Charles called me down to the bunker, I knew my training was going to become more intense as the days went by but when I walked into the bunker to see him, Hank, Erik and Alex all staring back at me I knew that I wasn't going to like what followed.
"You're going to heal one of us, can you guess who?" Charles asked from beside me.
I gave him a confused look, "What? Are you taunting me now?" I asked, worry taking over my body.
"No. I'm training you." He said looking back at me before a cracking noise and a scream followed.
I shot my eyes over to see Erik gripping onto Alex's arm that was now broken. Alex groaned in pain as he now grabbed onto his arm before looking me. I attempted to run over to him but Hank and Charles grabbed onto my arms holding me back.
"No. Heal him!" Charles whispered, "Through telepathy not touch."
I stared at them all in disbelief. "You've got to be kidding me. What if I can't heal him, you potentially just lost a member of the team." I hissed.
All Charles did was give me a small nod signaling for me to continue and heal Alex. I shook my head at him before looking forward to Alex who stood on the opposite side of the bunker. He continued to wince in pain but he tried to hide it as much as possible.
I shook Hank and Charles off of my arms staring Alex down trying as hard as I could to focus on healing him.
"Remember. Block out everything, all the sounds and thoughts just enough to radiant your healing onto him." Charles spoke. I took in his words and closed my eyes.
My arms began to tingle at my sides, feeling something rise off my skin making its way over to Alex. I opened my eyes in amazement for it was working; I was healing him. I watched as a forcefield formed around him and Alex slowly began to stand straighter looking at his arm. He flipped it back and forth examining it.
Everyone turned to me with smiles on their faces although I never smiled. "I knew you could do it." Charles grinned which I returned with a glare.
"And what if I couldn't?" I asked.
Charles looked down knowing that I used to think that I was only capable of helping myself and that my abilities were pointless in any kind of battle or mission.
Charles pulled me aside as Hank ran up to Alex and looked at his arm. Erik was just as assumed as always, a blank face plastered on his face.
"You have great abilities, you shouldn't be thinking that you're going to fail us and not be able to help. Like I've told you before, you're just as important as anyone else on this team and you just proved that. You're mutation is at full force, don't discourage yourself." He smiled knowing that he made me feel better about the situation.
"Thanks Charles. For not giving up on me." I smiled.
"Alright Hank. You're next let's go." Charles spoke walking to the doors with Hank following close behind. He smiled at me as he exited as Erik then left too leaving Alex and me alone in the bunker.
"It was my idea." He admitted making my eyes go wide.
"Are you insane?" I said pushing him slightly. He only laughed.
"I wanted to help, so I asked Erik and he willingly agreed."
"Ah well that doesn't surprise me." I laughed slightly.
"Yeah but it was a little harder to get Charles to agree." He started as he stepped closer to me. My arms crossed over my chest thinking about everything that just happened.
