Season 3: Ghost World

"Hey, Jer, I need you to help me with something?" Elena digs into her bag, resting her legs on Jeremy's lap. He rubs her legs soothingly. Rosalie leans back in the bamboo chair outside the grill.

"What's up?"

"I've been going through Stefan's old journals. Every single time that he's gone off he rails in the past, his best friend Lexi's been the one to bring him back" Rosalie scrunches up her eyebrows.

"You've been going through his journals?" Elena rolls her eyes.

"It's the only way to know how to get him back" Rosalie sighs; running her fingers through her straightened hair.

"So where is she now that we need her?" Alaric asks, getting back on track. Rosalie frowns.

"She's dead. And you want me to try to reach her, don't you?" Jeremy scoffs.

"I thought if I knew how she did it, maybe we could help him" Elena sighs.

"I don't even know if she's on the other side" Rosalie shares a look with Alaric.

"Is that what it's called?" Jeremy shrugs.

"That's what Anna calls it. There's not like an official brochure, or anything" Rosalie licks her lips.

"So what is it? Like some sort of supernatural purgatory?" Alaric shrugs.

"Well, Anna said it's like being here with all of us, only we can't see her or hear her and she can't interact with anyone. She's all alone"

"Then how did Vicki interact with us? She almost killed Stefan and I last night" Alaric nods.

"She blew up my car" Jeremy snorts.

"Vicki had help from a witch on the other side. Anna...She's doing this all by herself" Rosalie smiles softly.

"I'm just saying, maybe we learned our lesson about summoning dead people" Rosalie looks at Jeremy, who's looking at the car beside Rosalie.

"Do you think it's even possible to contact Lexi?" Elena pushes.

"I don't know. I didn't have an emotional connection with her. I've never even met her" Alaric huffs.

"Can we just drop this, please?" He asks uncomfortably.

"No, I can't drop it, Rick. I don't know what else to do" Elena glares.

"Don't you think we have a few too many dead vampires in our past to be sitting here thinking of them watching us?"

"It's sort of comforting though. The good vampires watching over us" Rosalie mumbles. Alaric thinks of Jenna. Jeremy chuckles to himself while looking beside him at an empty chair.

"Is Anna here right now?" Elena accuses. Jeremy pauses.

"No, no. I'm going to go, uh, check my work schedule" Jeremy abruptly stands up and walks to the entrance of the grill. Rosalie's feet bang on the floor. He glances back at everyone before going inside.

"That was weird" Rosalie giggles.

"Hey guys! Who forgot to invite me to the family summit?" Stefan strolls over to the three of them, sitting down in Jeremy's old spot. Stefan looks at Rosalie. "Hmm?" Alaric glares at the vampire. Stefan notices his journal on the table. Elena guiltily looks down at her lap. Stefan takes one of the journals and unravels the string that surrounds it. "Wow. All these words. I forgot how much I used to care" Rosalie licks her lips.
