A/N: y'all get some backstory today
U.I. P.O.V
"(Y/N), what happened? You used to be one of our top students."
You sat in a dreary office, the only light source being ceiling lights that gave you headaches if you stared at it for too long, but then again, any light would do that.
Your figure was slumped in a chair that had a suede cushion on it, leaving your back to be exposed to the plastic backrest.
Feet tapping impatiently, you sighed. You pulled your arms up to your chest and crossed them together.
"I already told you, my sister is sick. I have to take care of her." You retorted.
The teacher, Mr. Collier, raised his folded hand to signal an 'Oh well.' He stretched his arm to reach for his mug that reeked of coffee and vodka. You scrunched your nose as the scent had whiffed around you.
Mr.Collier was a completely bald man. Your friends would crack jokes as to how he looked like a man baby. He would always roll up his sleeves to show his grossly unshaven arms.
He began to slurp on his future hangover, squeezing his eyes together as he just discovered that there wasn't enough alcohol in his coffee. He gently placed his mug on a stack of ungraded papers, disregarding the amount of work the child put into their work.
Your mother always forbid you from cursing, even when you weren't around her. You could feel her presence everywhere. Even if you were halfway across the world, you wouldn't dare to even say "Crap!" You were afraid that she would smack you across the hand with whatever she could find. A spoon, a shoe, maybe even a dog if she was feeling frisky.
So a simple "...Jerk," Is all your murmured.
"What was that?" Mr. Collier perked up, burrowing an eyebrow.
You sat up in your seat and made unbreakable eye contact.
"I said you're a jerk. A huge freaking jerk." You spat.
"I'm sorry you feel that way." He simply pushed aside, laughing slightly. "I swear, you're becoming more like Mr. Kogane. You two would make fine friends."
'Who?' You thought to yourself.
You let out an exasperated scoff, falling back to your previous form. You let your head knock over and fall to the side.
Mr. Collier sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"You can't blame everything on your sister, (Y/N). You-you just can't. How would she feel if you were blaming your failures on her?" He questioned spitefully.
Your once half lidded eyes soon widened with indignation. You quickly stood your ground, slamming your hands on top of his desk.
In this moment, you threw your mother's rule out the window with a brick attached to it.
"You don't know anything about my sister! How fucking dare you say that I'm blaming my sister for my failures? "
You began to seethe with rage in an instant, a slight tingling resonating within you.
"How about you become a fucking teacher and grow a pair? Maybe if you didn't do such a crap job at teaching, then you wouldn't send us home with pounds of work! My sister will always be a priority over your half-assed work!" Soaked with venom, your words threw daggers at Mr.Collier.
Mr.Collier sat frozen with widened eyes. It took him a few moments until he finally came back to reality. He stood up from his seat in hurried frenzy.
"You do not raise your voice and curse me out, (Y/N)! Go to the office right now!"
Fuming, you quickly glanced at the half-empty mug that rested on the papers. You snatched it quickly before hesitantly chucking it at the teacher.
Mr.Collier stomped backwards, letting out a groan that made it clear that he was pissed. I mean, now he reeked of spiked coffee from the inside and out.
You stumbled backwards, bumping into someone. Before you could even turn around to see who it was, they placed their arms around you and dragged you out the room.
You squirmed in your 'kidnappers' arms, grunting as you try to pry their arms off of you.
"Get back here!" Mr. Collier bellowed.
You didn't get the chance to respond, as you were brought into the bustling hallway. You couldn't even catch a solid breath before someone clasped onto your hand and tugged you along with them.
Being pulled along other peers who went along with their school day caused you to become quite frazzled. Your surroundings became blurred and hazy, but you kept running. You kept running because you just realized what you've done.
-
"How did you know to come get me?" You inquired, hunched over. You were breathing rapidly, trying to regain a normal heart rate once more.
"I-I was just a-around...it w-was just a hunch."
"That I was in trouble?" You stood up straight, brushing yourself off.
"Uh, yeah. Haha." Your friend brought a hand up to the back of his head, as if he were rubbing an injury in order to soothe it.
"You okay?" You voiced.
Vigorous nodding came from the other party, who then put a simple thumbs up to indicate that he, in fact, was okay.
You smiled, grateful for your friend's rescue and presence. You couldn't be left alone, especially now.
The two of yous hid in a closet that was near the gym. You could hear the next period class enter and have trivial conversations.
When you looked up, you would see the dust particles swarm the air, as if they were people in a busy city.
It smelt of mildew and cleaning supplies. The air was always harder to breath in here than it was anywhere else.
You looked down at your friend who sat criss-cross on the grimy tile. He looked up at you with doe-eyes, a smile making its way to his face.
"I forgot to thank you for busting me out of there."
"No problem, (Y/N). I'm always there for my friends."
You nodded in agreement, for he was always there when his friends needed him the most.
Making your way next to your friend, you decided to pop a squat next to him.
You huffed, letting your future consequences run wild in your head. You could be expelled and never get into a music school. Your mom and sister could hate you. You could be kicked out of your own home. You wondered why you couldn't be more like your sister.
But then a thought that was so far away had made itself known.
"How did your mom's delivery go?"
Your friend looked at you, a peaceful look cascading his face.
"From what I heard, it was painful. But aren't they all?" He shrugged.
"I...guess?" You added.
"She had a girl," He sighed. "I wanted a brother, but I guess a sister will do."
You chuckled, feigning hurt. "Wow what's wrong with a sister?"
"Everything." He joined in. You both began to chuckle harder, having to cover your mouths in order to keep quiet.
As soon as your euphoria died down, an important question popped in your head.
"What's her name?" You questioned.
"Katie."
