The room where it all happened, where everything came to be had been gifted the presence of Keith and (Y/N).

The two were almost inseparable, which made Lance's heart yearn more for (Y/N).

He noticed they way they constantly joked with Keith or would spar given the opportunity. He'd glanced away when (Y/N) would give Keith one of their warm and hearty hugs.

He just wanted (Y/N) to be the one giving him one of their hugs, not Keith.

Unfortunately, he thought that (Y/N)'s  relationship with him was nothing short of just a friendship.

'But maybe there's still a chance!' Pidge and Hunk tried to cheer him up, a glimmer of hope still present in their voice.

Lance would simply scoff and deny their optimism, thinking someone like (Y/N) would never love a simple boy from Cuba like him.

Anything could happen, though.

"Do you know how refreshing it is to just sit down and not worry about your life being in danger?"

Keith gazed up from his knife, which he had been studying for a while, and gave (Y/N) a sly smile, "Our lives are always in danger. We just so happen to be in the eye of the hurricane."

(Y/N) nodded their head slowly, frowning.

"Yes, I guess you're right. We're never really safe. But it just feels good to not be fighting right now and just to chill out with one of my best friends." They shrugged.

Keith's eyes widened and his heart skipped a beat.

He stopped the twirling of the blade, which came from an unknown origin, to absorb the words that came from (Y/N).

"You consider me your best friend?"

(Y/N) tilted their head in shock. After all this time they've spent together, he's surprised they consider him their best friend? "Keith, are you serious?"

They awaited an answer that never came, shaking their head in disbelief.

"Of course I consider you my best friend. You're someone who I hold very close to my heart. In fact, I hold the entire team close to my heart." They spilt.

Keith scanned their face to look for any sign of bluffing, but found none. (Y/N) was being one-hundred percent genuine.

"I know we've been here for a short while, like a year? But I love everyone here, Keith," They rested their hand on the side of his face gently, "I love you."

He studied them for a moment before pulling them into a hug. He felt the absolute trust (Y/N) gave him, and gratefully appreciated it.

It felt great knowing that you'll always have someone around your corner to count on.

Keith will never take your friendship for granted, and he hopes that you won't either.

"I love you too." He smiled.

The intricately crafted guitar rested in the corner of (Y/N)'s room, never left unplayed and never collected dust.

They made sure they used it until the skin on their fingers were slightly teared. It meant way too much to (Y/N) to ever treat it like garbage.

The fact that Lance went out of his way to get them something that they've longed for almost made (Y/N) tear up.

Something inside (Y/N) told them that they just had to pay him back. However, that would be a challenge since Lance wasn't really open about his wants rather than his needs.
