Sleep was a good break from their consciousness between the real world and the land that existed within their heads. It let their minds wander amuck within the safety of their own skull. Their brain could throw the most elaborate and haunting things at them during their rest, possibly causing them to wake up in a cold sweat. Sometimes, a paladin will experience the every so often 'Being chased, but it seems like my body has reached paralysis' nightmare. Or the potential 'Falling to my death' dream.
Either way, it proved that the mind is boundless and the state of unconsciousness was addicting.
So that's why (Y/N) trudged grouchily towards the castle's center, where Allura had requested them to be in the wee hours of, well, they couldn't tell anymore. They just knew it was too early for their liking.
They had to hastily remove themselves from Lance's grasp, careful not to wake him from his much needed rest. He groaned and shifted a tad at the sudden loss of the warm presence that used to lay between his arms. A doting grin made its way onto (Y/N)'s face before they tucked a pillow into Lance's arms to mimic their body.
They quickly threw on a silky robe that had been slightly chilled. When the fabric had met their bare skin, they shivered. 'No time for clothes,' they jotted, 'This will have to do for now.'
They imagined the warmness of the bed as their bare feet had tiredly padded across the castle's floor. They were too frazzled to even remember to throw on a pair of slippers. With each step, they hissed at the coldness that nipped at their soles and toes. (Y/N) hoped that this would be quick. Their body was on a timer, and as each second passed, they felt themselves getting more and more irritable and exhausted.

"Hello, Princess." (Y/N) yawned, softly patting their mouth. They stood with slight limpness, drooping to the side every so often. They would occasionally pinch their forearm as an attempt to keep awake.
Allura snickered at the sight and uneeded formality. "Why do you insist on calling me 'Princess', (Y/N)?"
"Hm? Oh," They rubbed their tired eyes. "I don't know. I guess it just kind of stuck." They shrugged sheepishly.
"Hm, well, that isn't why I called you to me." Allura sauntered over to (Y/N), placing an intimidating look that made (Y/N) fidget and worry as to why exactly they were here. "Trust me (Y/N), I wouldn't have called you down if what we needed to discuss wasn't of importance."
Allura stood in front of (Y/N), where their heights had met the same length. Eye contact was imminent, so the only thing they could do was stare head on into Allura's eyes.
"You look quite weary." Allura squinted, "Have you done anything exhausting lately?"
(Y/N)'s eyes had widened to a great size. Their face had reddened under Allura's scrutinizing gaze as memories of the night before had flashed in their mind.
"Uh, yeah. Lance and I," They cleared their throat. "Uh, trained."
"Huh." Allura nodded slowly before shrugging. "So that's what you humans call it."
They choked, blinking rapidly. "E-excuse me?"
"From the sounds of, I could have sworn you two were-"
"ALRIGHT PRINCESS," They quickly changed the subject, "Why did you call me here?!" Their voice had slightly wavered, the feeling of embarrassment running cold down their spine.
Allura's eyes had twinkled in remembrance, taking a step back from (Y/N)'s personal bubble.
"I was hoping you could give me answers to somethings that have left me quite perplexed."
