"Vivian," a voice echoed with worry. "Where's (Y/N)?"
A small shrug came from the child who sat at the table, completing her obscure homework. She hummed a tune from her favorite show, swinging her crossed legs back and forth.
"I don't know. Last time I saw them, they were with Matt."
"When exactly was the last time you saw them?" Vivian's mother inquired, concern still coating her words.
"Like, when school finished. They were walking to the store~" She finished in a sing-songy voice.
Her mother relaxed, knowing that Matt would take care of (Y/N) and (Y/N), Matt.
"Ma?" Vivian giggled.
"Yes?" She sat in front of her.
"I think," She giggled once more. "I think Matt likes (Y/N)."

It was cold. Freezing, in fact. The space felt so empty yet claustrophobic.
My headache was gone though. My body was no longer sore and I felt like I could kick some ass.
When I opened my eyes, everything was a blur. I blinked a few times to get rid of the tired that rested in the crevices of my lids.
Soon, I could see clearly.
The glass exterior that was in front of me dissipated into particles, giving me an exit.
"Am I in a pod?" I asked myself, looking around at the place I rested.
"Yeah. A healing pod." Someone answered.
I jumped, my head whipping in the direction of the unidentified voice.
Leaning up against the wall rested Keith. I relaxed, noting that there was no threat in sight. Only a nice, angsty boy.
"Where is everyone?" I walked down from the healing pods, absolutely enlivened.
"Out."
I scoffed at the vague answer he gave me.
"Out where?"
"Finding the other lions." He stated, fixing his gloves.
"Why didn't you go with them?" I walked closer to him, quizzing his decision.
"Because Shiro told me to stay here and try to locate the red lion." He shrugged.
"And...why aren't you doing that?" I crossed my arms, cocking my head to the side.
"I couldn't leave you here alone when you woke up! You'd be confused." He defended.
"Hm," I slowly nodded, somewhat satisfied with his answer. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm still very much confused as to where I am."
"Well since you're feeling better, come with me. There's people that want to talk you." He began walking toward the exit, but abruptly stopped in his tracks.
He turned his heel and spoke up.
"I forgot to mention, we're in a castle on a foreign planet far from Earth. And we almost died." He added nonchalantly.
"Oh. Great." I furrowed my brows and followed Keith.
-
"So, you're telling me that we need these lions to defeat one of the universes most malevolent and destructive species?" I interrogated.
A woman with pale, plush hair and infinite eyes stood with such determination and radiated aptitude for leadership. From the looks of it, she seemed annoyed that I wasn't quite understanding how dire the situation was.
"To put it into basic terms, yes."
"Okay. Well, I'll help Keith locate his lion, Princess." I offered, leaning my body onto his side.
"No! You can't." She interjected sternly.
"What? Why not?" Perplexity and shock had ran through my body for a quick second, awaiting her answer.
A great smile etched it's way onto her lips, a sense of pride emitting from Allura.
I felt nervous.
"(Y/N)," She spoke up. "You are the paladin of the Purple Lion."
In a matter of seconds, it felt as if the weight of the world had fallen on top of my shoulders.
Just a few seconds ago, we were on Earth, running away from getting arrested. Now, I was drafted into this alien warfare.
I stumbled backwards a bit, a feeling of unease engulfing my body.
"W-what?"
She walked closer to me, placing a hand on my shoulder. I somehow still felt uneasy.
"The Purple Lion needs someone who is a leader in the making. Someone who is mysterious doused with eccentricity. A paladin who is creative in moments where we need out of the box ideas." She dissected.
"And that's me, Princess?" I inquired doubtfully.
"You tell me."
I stood up straight, confidence surging throughout my body.
"Where do I find this Lion?"
-
"How did you learn to play so many instruments? "
"The same way people learn different languages, I guess. Through years of practice." You shrugged.
"That...makes sense." Matt pondered.
"Music itself is a language, you know." You stated.
"Would you like to elaborate?"
"No." You denied, smirking.
"Fair enough, (L/N)." Matt nodded.
"Hey, I just gave you something to think about at 3 AM. You should be thanking me."
"That you did, that you did. Thanks" He agreed.
The both of you exited the store with bags filled with candy from when your grandparents were alive. It ranged from fruity-sweet things like Skittles to sour candies that made your lips pucker like Warheads, which were your absolute favorite. Everytime Matt tried eating one, he'd cry, which was more of a treat than the actual candy itself.
"Hey, we should take Katie to the park sometime. I miss hanging out with her." You admitted.
"Yeah, totally." He began planning in his head the awesome day that could come with hanging out with his sister and (Y/N).
Your voice pulled Matt out of his thoughts.
"Matt," you started, stopping him and yourself in your tracks. "Just know that I love you so much, okay?"
"Y-yeah, of course. I love you too." He smiled.
However, a gut feeling bubbled in his stomach. He worried that the love you felt was different from the love he felt for you. He was scared that his love was unrequited.
Little did you know, that your statement would be his 3 AM thoughts.
