I barely knew these people, but they were treating me like they were my friends.

They have yet to see my face, and they treated me so warmly. To me, they were strangers. To them, I was an ally.

It's like, you save a person's life and now they want to be friends with you.  That's absolutely mind boggling.

When we entered the house, we began to unwind in the kitchen. As Keith made what seemed like coffee, they all cracked jokes tiredly.

They all seemed too weary to fully absorb the current situation they were in.

They just stole, potentially, the nation's most important man, and now we were hiding away somewhere in the desert. I'm sure we are greatly wanted by the government.

Though, I didn't quite want to intrude on their pleasant conversation of recalling what they just did with the harsh reality of things, I kept my mouth shut.

I leaned up against the wall observing the group silently.

Everyone was talking about something different, but I was too lost in thought to listen.

The warmth of this home reminded me of a greater time in my life, a memory began to envelope my mind.

-
"You played the wrong note, Vivian. Start over. I want no mistakes made this time."

A small, defeated sigh came from my sister's mouth. She'd do anything to make my mother happy, even if it meant all her fingers would pop off.

"(Y/N)," I jumped at my mother's sudden projection. " I'm going to meet up with one of my coworkers to get a drink. You make sure your sister gets the part down by 7:00, understand? I'll see you girls later." My mother left without giving me a chance to object.

But of course, more work had been piled on my shoulders, yet again.

Sigh.

Once I heard the click of the lock, I walked up to my sister with quiet steps.

"You can take a break now. She's gone."

My sister almost lept off the cushioned seat. She looked at me with an over worked expression. A saddened smile spread across her face.

"You know I can't, Mom will kill me if I don't get this down."

I smirked.

Bumping my hip with her's, she scooted over giving me space to pop a squat.

"That's why we lie," I sung. "Mom will ask 'Did she get it down?' and I'll say 'Why yes my loving, understanding mother. She just needed to practice a bit more!' See? Easy."

Vivian shook her head, disapproving of my idea.

"What if she asks for me to play in front of her?"

I waved a hand in the air, pushing her worries to the wind.

"Then play," I stated simply. "You have it down already. You just messed up again because she overworked you."

My sister sighs once more, not being able to disagree with my logic. Or her just being too tired to argue.

"No need to thank me, by the way. I know I'm the best sibling you've ever had." I bragged teasingly.

"You're my only sibling."

"Not true, I absorbed  our brother in the womb. But that's why I'm the best." I winked.

She snickered, feeling the work load on her shoulder lighten up a bit.

-
I smiled softly at the fond memory, but I began to notice how hot it was getting in this helmet.
