The two bedroom townhouse Eddie and I moved into the summer after graduation was attached to Gale and Dame's, so it was a pretty short walk back and forth. Once the party was over and Dame was swatting guests out, mumbling it was time for Elizabeth to take a nap, Eddie lifted Salvador up in his arms while I hugged Gale goodbye and we were off. It was about ten paces from our friend's front door to our own. Somehow, Sal managed to doze off in that short time period.

"I'll go put him down," Eddie offered, pressing a kiss to my temple when I opened the front door for him. "Hopefully he'll sleep through the night."

On the wall by the front door was a clock that read seven fifty-two. That was notoriously late for Sal to still be awake, so no wonder the little guy clonked out.

I went into the kitchen and pulled my food tracker out of the cupboard of "special foods" Eddie kept stocked for me. They were incredibly high carb and calorie, so he wanted to keep them out of Sal's grip. The cupboard was the highest one, located next to the microwave. I clicked the pen and started writing down everything I'd eaten at the party, hoping my assumption of what was in the cake was right. Dame had made it herself, so there was no exact way of measuring, but I probably got close. Over the years, I'd gotten good at figuring that stuff out.

"He loves that little stuffed dog you bought him." Eddie yawned as he walked into the kitchen, running his hand through his unruly hair. I glanced over my shoulder, blushing a bit, and giggled that I knew. "What's he call it again? Dolly?"

"Dali. Like, Salvador Dali, the painter?" I explained, doing some quick math in my head to decide I had a little under one-thousand-five-hundred calories that day. Still wasn't anywhere near where my old doctor wanted me to be, but Eddie said I was close enough. "He painted the melting clocks?"

"Oh! Okay, yeah. I remember that. Our school's library had a collage of famous paintings and that one was always Gale's favorite," my husband clapped his hands, smiling like a little kid who'd just put together that three plus three equals six. My own face burned from the grinning I was doing and when he wrapped his arms around me to press a kiss to my cheek, it only got worse. "You know, the anniversary of the day we met is coming up. Wanna do anything special?"

"How long has it been? Five years or six?"

"Six, baby," he hummed, his hands like silk against my hands. With a chuckle, he lightly tapped the pen out of my grip and tangled our fingers together. "And we've been married for almost three, right?"

"I thought it was four?"

Eddie playfully nudged me with his nose, "We are a mess!"

"That's why we work!" I giggled, twisting around so that I could look him in the eyes when I pecked his lips. Eddie accepted it openly, humming excitedly. "I don't know. It's on a Wednesday this year, right? Sal will be at his play-date with Lizzy. We can go out for lunch, see a movie, or take a walk in the park? That could be fun."

"Let's go get some classic cinnamon lattes and chill in the park. We had our first kiss in the park. It's symbolic!" he suggested, twirling me so that I had my chest resting against his own. I let my body soften against him and pulled free to wrap my arms around his neck. "How does that sound, Clemmy?"

"Nostalgic," I admitted. "A good kind of nostalgic."

After I put my book away, Eddie took my hand and suggested we hit the sack as well. It had been a long day; Sal woke us up at an ungodly hour of the morning because he was hungry, then he crashed on our bed in between us an hour later while Eddie and I found ourselves unable to fall back asleep. That was the norm for us anymore. Despite being so little, Sal had the appetite of a horse and he often got hungry at the worst times of the day. Never during normal breakfast, lunch, or dinner times, but at one in the morning or ten o'clock at night. It was hard to deal with sometimes, but it was worth it for our baby. We could manage some sleepless nights.
