The Penguin presented himself as a cold-hearted man but his boss's daughter knew better. Will Oswald make an exception for her or will their romance fall apart?
After a nice family dinner, Evy was feeling much better & was cheerful. She was slowly getting back to herself. Everyone was breathing easier once she was normal.
I kept her heavily guarded after Jerome's visit. Luckily, he didn't pop up. He was too busy raining hell on the TV. He narrowly escaped getting caught a few times by Jim. Evy was worried for him of course but also for us. She didn't want anyone to get hurt when he eventually came back for her.
We stayed at the mansion mainly since it was the only place he wouldn't come near. I reinforced my mother's apartment, the club & her safe house. Those were the only other places we would frequent.
Currently we were at the mansion after a long work day. I was lounging on the bed while Evy tried on outfits for the annual children's hospital charity ball.
"You know I still think that its a mistake to go. He's still at large & you'll be in a place with exits all around." I shouted
"Sorry but it would raise a lot of eyebrows if I opted out. My parents donated every year so now its on Bruce & I to fill in their shoes. You could always come." She replied as the wall muffled her slightly
"I know but you don't have to do everything your parents did. Nobody should expect you both to be exactly like them. I would but I don't think I'd have much patience." I retorted which made her laugh
"Am I that distracting?" She teased as she finally came out.

The dress was perfect & made my jaw drop. It matched her perfectly as it showed enough skin to be enticing while being elegant. She hated wearing extremely revealing clothes & this was as far as she was comfortable with.
"I guess so. Aww I was hoping to see you." She teased from the center of the room
"After seeing you in this, I want to be there when you stun everyone." I replied as I twirled her around
"Good! I'll make sure to reward you at the end of the night." She promised as I set her down
"Mm, good incentive." I replied before giving her a tender kiss. She immediately melted into my arms & nestled into the crook of my neck when we parted
" Can you drop me off at my house?" She asked while craning her neck up
"Of course." I replied. She gave me a bop on the nose before wiggling out to change.
She didn't need much time to change. With her baggy street clothes on, we went to the car which I drove. I took the back roads to get to the mansion. She gave me a quick kiss before getting out. Like usual, I left once I saw the bedroom lamp turn on.
~ few hours later ~ Bruce P.O.V
Oswald had dropped Evy off a few hours ago. Alfred still didn't like him or approved of their relationship. Oswald seemed like a nice guy for a mob boss. However, I didn't like the danger he brought with him. I knew that our lives weren't any safe after getting caught by Bunderslaw. But, we didn't have to kill people on regular basis.
