Last night was the same training schedule. Slade assured me the Court wouldn't harm me again. I was thankful for his help. I also informed him of our meet up with Five. He was upset that he got away but swore to keep an eye out. He stressed for me to not go after him for now. I was happy to stay away from Strange's monsters for a while.

I rested up since Ozy wanted me in his mayoral parade. Alfie & Bruce were against me going naturally. But, I was getting into that car regardless. I woke up on time & got ready. Luckily, I wasn't developing any baggy eyes. It made doing my makeup so much easier. I couldn't put on my more dramatic clown makeup. I had to use a lighter look & contoured my face to alter it as best I could. It took a while but I finished on time. I rushed to head downstairs & saw them arguing.

"Soo, how do I look boys?" I asked from the top

Everyone looked up. Ozy smiled as he walked to the bottom. Butch gave a thumbs up while Ed smirked. I came down & grabbed his hand.

"You look ravishing." He complimented

"Thank you Mr. Mayor." I smirked as we walked to the door

"She's back by tonight. She still has to finish high school. College applications won't turn themselves in." Alfred glared, causing Ozy to scowl

"Not like I have straight A's. Don't worry, Alfie. I'll be back in time. Bye boys." I cut in as I pulled Ozy out the door

We all got into the car. I nestle into Ozy's side as we celebrated with Ed in the back. It was adorable seeing him so giddy about his new position. We were so happy to see him being genuinely loved instead of feared by the public.

We arrived at the start of the parade route on time. The convoy was waiting for us with a campaign van in front of the silver convertible. Confetti & streamers would shoot in front of us. Butch would be walking behind with the GCPD & our own security car following.

The day was going great & without a hitch. The parade was great as I sat to Ozy's left. Everyone was happy to see him & some shook his hand. Ed whispered plan occasionally during the ride. We took photos in front before going into the office. It was surreal seeing his name on the desk.

I gave him a good luck kiss before having to leave. We were still the rulers of the underworld. With his new position, he couldn't be seen getting dirty. I had no problem managing our old life. I was going to be busy the entire day.

After Evy left, I was thrown into being Mayor. I had to read through my debriefs. The city was in the dumps which I knew. Crime was a major issue but that would be easy to control. I had Evy after all on that end. We could mould the city into exactly what we wanted.

I kept tabs on my friends as well. Jim was stubborn about not returning to the GCPD. He was living decently as a private eye with the monsters contained. Lee finally took up the medical examiners job. With her pay, they could spruce up their place. Evy & I began making a bet on how long before Jim caved & went back.

Ed knew how to utilise my schedule. After meeting with advisors to make up a plan to improve the city, I was on a string of PR events. I helped in a soup kitchen line at night & the next afternoon was presenting a school bus to St. Joseph's Catholic Girl's school. By the end of the day, I was happy to be home.

My mother's statue was finally finished. It was delivered to my home & set in the front parlour. I looked over it & approved of it. The likeliness was uncanny. Ed really knew how to pay attention to details. It was a relief to not have an idiot #2. Besides Evy, he was the only one whose presence didn't infuriate me.

"There's something I've been wanting to ask you. Am I a good boy? Have I made you proud?" I asked, choking up at the end

"I hope I'm not interrupting." Ed apologised as he walked in

"Oh, Ed, you never met my mother. Wasn't she beautiful?" I asked

"A fine figure of a woman." He agreed

"She was my whole world. The only one that was always there for me." I confided

"Well, I believe the answer is yes." He comforted

"She would be proud." He clarified when I turned to him

"Do you really think so?" I doubted

"Oswald, look at everything you've achieved. The people love you. Gangs fear you. Evy adores you as much as you do her. And tomorrow night, the creme of Gotham will be gathering to celebrate you." He reminded

"What more could someone ask for?" He asked as I moved closer to the statue

"To share it openly with Evy." I sighed before giving her a goodbye kiss

On that solemn note, I went to bed. I woke up early to get back to city hall. Today was the unveiling of my mother's statue. Evy was stuck in school & couldn't attend. It was fine since we'd be seeing each other at the party. Everyone arrived on time for the 10:00 ceremony.

"My mother was the daughter of immigrants. A humble cook. We did not have much but when she was by my side I felt loved...protected." I commemorated

"As promised, I have rid Gotham of its villainous monsters. With my mother as my witness, I vow to you from this day forward every man, woman, & child in our great city will be safe." I swore

Everyone cheered until gunfire startled them. We all ducked down as a group of men charged the steps. Butch started to move closer to me & was drawing his gun. Ed stayed in place as we watched them control the crowd.

"No one is safe not from us." one of the red hoods said

"Drop it!" he ordered Butch

"Put it down." Someone else said with a Tommy gun aimed at us

Butch did as they said. I expected to be shot like a dog but they did something more painful. They shot at my mother's neck. Another man came with a sledgehammer to properly decapitate her. I watched in horror as her head rolled down the steps.

"I will make sure you pay dearly for this." I spat

"Now, now, Mr. Mayor don't go losing your head." He mocked before running off

The smoke grenades gave the perfect cover. They drove off in their van as we all caught our breaths. I was livid at the desecration of my mother. I cradled her head as I stormed into my office. I placed Ed in charge of the GCPD investigation. I shooed everyone out to schedule an emergency underworld meeting.

Butch drove home as fast as he could. All my captains along with Barbara gathered in the dining room. I showed the damaged head & placed a hefty bounty on the extermination of the Red Hoods. One captain laughed off the damage. I quickly taught him a lesson by bashing his head on the table. Zsasz enjoyed the correction. To keep my temper in check, I quickly dismissed everyone.

I worked from the mansion since my temper was high. I wanted the leader's head by the end of the day. I focused as best I could on the city's problems. Unfortunately, my anger was getting the best of me. I was frazzled during lunch & spilt wine on my sleeve. Ed helped clean it up with salt which led him to their hideout. I ordered Gabe to bring the car around before telling Butch to meet us.

We headed to the laundry factory. I quickened my pace when I heard gunfire. I entered one of the silos with Zsasz & his team at my back. Butch was waiting for us after slaughtering the entire gang. But, one man had a small spark of life in him. Butch noticed him reaching for a gun & shot him. I was extremely proud of his work & carried him away to share the good news.
