Evy/ Red P.O.V
I hated school. Everyone was trying to befriend me after coming back. They all annoyed me with their fake smiles & snobbiness. I had to hold back my anger as I could easily seriously maim them. Luckily, I only had a few more months of their annoying faces. I wasn't happier for the last bell & ran to Alfred.
The ride home was a bit uncomfortable. He was voicing his concerns about my relationship. He didn't like the danger he brought with it. But, he was more concerned about the age gap.
He worried that I might be rushed into advancing our relationship. I acknowledged his concern but was confident that Ozy wouldn't. But, he warned me to be careful. He brought up Ozy's obvious irritation at college. I tried to deflect as I knew that was a serious issue.
Ozy & I had some strains over me going away. We tried to be civil when arguing. But, this stage of my life was bringing out his insecurities. I assure him no one could steal me away. I didn't know how many different ways I could reaffirm my love. But, we were on opposite sides. We began to drift a bit & buried ourselves in work.
Alfred dropped the talk for now. Bruce gave me some space after seeing my annoyed face. I focused on completing my school work. I finished just in time to get ready. We all got into the car & headed to the Sirens for the victory party. I couldn't wait to see everyone & thank Butch for dealing with the Red Hoods swiftly.
"How long do we have to stay?" Bruce asked as we stood in the entrance
The room was packed with reporters & Gotham's elite. This crowd made him very nervous. I gingerly held his hand to try calming him down.
"As long as it takes for you both to be seen in the world, Master Bruce, being Bruce & Evelyn Wayne. And smiling." Alfred soothed
"We're going to suffer through it together. We're better together." I smiled
"So this is our life now? Fake smiles & mingling." Bruce sighed
"Easier than the alternatives Gotham as to offer." I reasoned
"I miss the old days." He said
"So do I." Alfred agreed before Bruce led us through the crowd
Ozy was speaking to a couple near the stage. Once he saw us, he stopped talking & made a beeline. I felt a blush creep up as his eyes focused on me. A smile crept on his face as he eyed me.
"Bruce, Evy, Mr. Pennyworth. I'm so pleased you made it." He greeted
"Well, we're trying to get out more Mr. Mayor." Alfie curtly replied
"Oswald, please." He smirked
"We've known each other long enough." He whispered
"We never got the chance to thank you for saving our lives from the ex-mayor." Bruce said to defuse the tension
