This is an odd addition but I believe Pinky has had a considerably impactful position in Shivika's story. I've never thoroughly analyzed her properly, until today. So I'm using ᴀᴜᴛʜᴏʀ's ɴᴏᴛᴇ to save my analysis about her.
This isn't a part of the Iconic Shivika analysis series so if you do not wish to read, don't scroll anymore.~
1) I've said this before and I repeat, I am someone who does forgive but doesn't forget. I'm glad both Shivaay and Annika gave Pinky a chance because it depicts their nature to not be stuck up people but people who make an effort to set things straight, but that doesn't mean the two have forgotten anything.
2) I was immensely pissed at Pinky for doing this to them and I can never forget what she did, yet I'm glad she learnt her lesson, she learnt from not even her mistake but her sin.
3) No redemption is ever enough for a sin, yet what she did at least caused me to only put aside the anger and move on without keeping that grudge, despite keeping that memory.
4) Pinky can not be justified for what she did, her insecurity wasn't absurd, yet the only benefit of doubt I give her is that she has always been different from the family and somehow separate too based on the dialogues from the earlier part of the show where she claimed she felt she could never blend in. Given all that Shivaay was her pillar of strength and her pride, so sharing him wasn't easy. Yes it was incredibly disgusting how she literally put his relationship with her as a mother in a highly questionable position, all just to get rid of Annika. Yes it was sick and will be. But one cannot forget that Pinky has an immensely flawed and dented personality. She's spent her whole life just trying to gain approval from her very own family too. And in that case she isn't an attention whore, she just wanted to be genuinely loved by her family. But she never got that, and that has majorly effected her personality. Plus since she was incredibly different and outlandish, Pinky isn't one who thinks too much, she makes rash decisions. Pinky is technically an actual example of the thing most shows try to show, a girl who was fortunate enough to marry into a family that had a high "status" but the fact is she doesn't blend in well. Annika was from the middle class but Annika is a refined individual because of all that she's faced alone in her life. Pinky has never had that experience, she just faced this extremely opposite family after she got married. Her character hasn't developed or experienced growth. Over time she's learnt lessons and still continues too.
5) Pinky is a highly misguided missile. I still remember the beginning of the show. How Pinky both fought with and fought for Jahnvi. Pinky is a raw person who is still learning things. I know it sounds freaky because she's a grown up woman with a married kid. But Pinky has only faced the Oberois and her complex circumstances because of her alien self in that social class. She hasn't experienced the real challenges in life that shape up a person's personality. Pinky is mean, selfish, idiotic, stubborn, stupid and a lot more. But fact is, she needs time and practical experience with troubles and relationships. Pinky doesn't even know how to handle things as a mother-in-law because she was never even an outstanding mother. Her own mother-in-law never recognized Pinky's insecurities. Pinky was left alone with her feelings of not being worth the Oberoi label and she's just battled with herself to prove she's an Oberoi too. In all this she made Shivaay into a wall of defense. And this concept isn't out of the world. "Bacha aik Maa ka sahara hota hai." She just manipulated this thing to make a place for herself by showing look my son is so strong, you can't do anything to me, say anything to me because my son is so strong that he won't leave you at peace if you mess with me. Much like how Bua used Veer though. The only difference is that Pinky is an insecure idiot, while Bua was a pathetic psychopath so their strategies are miles apart, the reason why Shivaay is in no way like Veer, and yet the two cousins had a beast version. Pinky trained Shivaay to run a bulldozer of NKK over everyone because she realized she didn't have all that which is why she never got her due respect and status and was always cornered in a way. Bua taught Veer to do things by hook or by crook, even if that meant taking a life.
6) Pinky is learning. With time she has learnt Annika's importance too and I hope she doesn't set a reverse gear. But for me the highlight till now has been how she reacted when Bua told her about KM and Trivedi, and how she broke the silence by saying Shivaay you're doing it right because if that girl puts your family above everything else, you should do the same. I hope, I hope Pinky sticks to these new developments in her character.
7) She hasn't had the best redemption, if someone says that then I wonder if they've been watching Ishqbaaaz only and not lived the entire journey of this show. Yet I'm glad to see Pinky changing a bit because I don't appreciate the concept of greedy manipulative mother-in-laws. I hope she continues to progress and grow as a correct and truly gives both Annika and Shivaay the place they deserve in her life.
