There have been times where Annika valued others above her and made choices for their sake. But under extreme circumstances, anyone with a heart would consider such factors. Beyond that Annika never believed in being stepped over by anyone.

This woman always had the nerve to shutdown absolutely anyone who crossed the line. Given this was one of her introductory scenes, it stands to be important for it already proved a point regarding her beliefs. Her point of view never aligned with the typical traditional ideas of women enduring absolutely anything and everything in the name of making a compromise. When needed she would put her loved ones before her, but not because she was weak. This was a key point to understand the dynamics of the couple's relationship too. The circumstances under which they got married weren't normal. At that point enraged and envious Shivaay who was concerned about family name made a wrong move. The choice she made was to protect a life and not because she wasn't strong enough to stand up before the man she had just slapped a few moments ago. After the marriage she never forgave him easily, rather the matter of acceptance lingered on for ages. Even when the couple got over what all drove them away from each other, she demanded him not to accept her but acknowledge he wanted to if he wanted to keep her by his side. Beyond that she never avenged anything from Oberois for they weren't at fault. The decision was Shivaay's and the problem was also between them then. Contrary to the OG Annika, AU Annika was a flip, she wanted him to acknowledge her status as his partner. This again signifies how OG Annika was a unique character.
