The day that the death god Ryuk first decided to drop his death note onto the surface of Earth, the world's course of the future changed forever. Nothing would ever been as it used to, nor would everything that had been planned for this universe go accordingly. This was one of the biggest game changers in history, and one that not one person alive on Earth would expect.
It was only a coincidence that the school student Light Yagami decided to pick it up. If he hadn't, maybe Earth's course wouldn't have changed so vastly. Maybe it would have, for the most part, stayed the same. But because it was this particular person who picked it up, it transformed everything. It caused one of, or perhaps the greatest psychological war in all of history. Kira vs. L, both thinking that they themselves are the sole definition of justice. Both thought they were right, and both fought for that with their very own lives.
Whether it changed for the better or worse, is up for debate. Everyone on Earth had their own opinion on Kira and L; some thought Kira was right, others thought L was. Some thought that the truth lie in between both of them. However, most did not act on their opinions. Most just told their views to friends and families, maybe post it online someplace. But that was about it. Not many people wanted to get involved; sometimes it was because of laziness, because of fear for their lives, or they just didn't think it was their job. But a few people became deeply entangled in this specific war.
Kokona Arakida was one of those few people.
She believed L was wrong; completely, horrifically wrong. Nothing he said was true, it was only evil lies. He may have been a genius, but she believed he only used his intelligence to convince people that Kira, the rightful and just ruler of Earth, was corrupt and destructive. She wanted to help her god, and she would do that at any cost.
