Late the next night, Kokona stood in the middle of the warehouse, pacing back and forth and glancing at her watch every few seconds. 8:45 P.M., it read.
Besides the soft 'tick' it made as each second passed, the building was completely silent. She was far enough away from the city that the noise it made every night wasn't able to reach her, so in that moment she was the only one who was capable of shattering the silence that surrounded her. She glanced around the large room, and smiled slightly to herself as she observed each detail. Despite the old, dark wood that made up the walls, the dusty beams holding the roof in place that ran across the ceiling, and each cracked floorboard beneath her feet, this place was beautiful. It may not have shown bright with outward beauty, or set an example to home decorators around the world, but it was still absolutely stunning to her. It held so much meaning to her; not only had it been the home to SALL for so long... It was also one of the biggest reasons she had ever had the chance to become this involved with the greatest war in history. Her mind raced back to the very beginning; when Z had donated this warehouse to the cause. Due to personal problems, he hadn't been able to do anything else. But despite that, this building turned out to be one of the greatest gifts to ever be given to SALL for this war against L, and he had ended up meaning a lot to the group. His gift had done so much for everyone on Earth, but most importantly, had done so much for their group and their team.
This had been where everyone in SALL had met for every single meeting. This had been where they announced every update they heard, and introduced every member into the group. This had been where H had more than willingly agreed to give up half her life to bring down L. This was where Kira had called Mikami away from, to join him on the battle field. This was the starting point to anything and everything that had brought Kira closer to the finish line, closer to becoming the winner.
This place wasn't just a simple warehouse, and it wasn't just some old building with rotten walls and a bug problem; it was a legend. It had directly influenced the fall of L, as well as the entire course of the Kira vs L's successors war. It impacted the life of every one on Earth, whether they knew it or not.
And now it would help steer Kira back on course, back to being who the god he was meant to be.
That was why Kokona had chosen it as the location for what she was about to do. It would enjoy that honor as well as its many others. Of all the locations on Earth, it was this one that deserved this great and amazing privilege. Maybe, one day in the future, one where it was Kira who was ruling, it could be turned into a museum. It could showcase the horrors of the Earth before Kira, and the wonderful peace that filled this new world. It could show what happened to the people when left alone without Kira to guide them; World wars, terrorism, slavery, kidnappings... Once Kira gained complete control, humanity would definitely need some reminders of their dark and evil history. If they were educated in those truths, that could possibly prevent the third or fourth generation of L detectives from arising; the original and his successors had caused enough of a headache as it was.
But someone else had caused an even bigger headache. And Kokona was ready to stop that.
"Light, I need to talk to you about something important," Kokona had said, leaning against a small tree across the street from a modest sized shop. "Don't say you can't, because you have to know this. The fate of our war rests on this. So be at the SALL meeting place at 9 P.M." She hung up the phone, and slipped it into her pocket. She let out a deep sigh, slightly nervous about what she would have to do that night. But she wasn't extremely worried; more than anything else, she was excited.
She was ready.
Kokona pulled a photo from her pocket that she had printed out earlier that day, and smiled softly at the beautiful face on it.
