SALL (Death Note)

Chapter 21

Kokona stared at the ceiling, laying against the seat of C's couch and thinking about the events of the last few days. She didn't exactly enjoy thinking about them, so when her phone rang, she was quite thankful for the interruption.

"Unknown number..." Kokona muttered, before flipping the phone open and pressing it to her ear. "Hello?" She said, and was pleasantly surprised when Light's voice sounded through the speaker.

Kokona, sorry I didn't call before." Light's voice sounded stressed and worried, and Kokona immediately sensed that something was wrong. He sighed before continuing to speak, "We got the Death Note back. My father is dead now. And we found the identity of the mafia boss, and the SPK guy too. This has not -"

"Woah woah Light, slow down!" Kokona said, holding the phone tightly. "Your father is dead??"

"Yeah. And he didn't even manage to kill the guy!" Light sighed, "Originally the plan was to get Matsuda to get the eyes instead but my idiot father did instead.."

"Okay Light I have literally no idea what you're talking about right now. Start over from the beginning."

Light began telling her everything that had happened over the last few days, catching her up on everything. From what happened to Sayu in the end to the attack that they had launched on the mafia. 

"Mello escaped. We have the Death Note but Mello is still a threat we need to eliminate..." Kokona listened carefully listened to Light's words, "Near as well. But at least neither are just voices anymore, we know who they are. We just need their names."

"Well they can't be worse than L," Kokona reassured her god, "We beat him and these guys are his successors. They're probably gonna be easier and quicker to defeat, they don't have the same experience that L had."

"Oh... And we have one more problem."

"Hmm?"

"They both know about SALL."

"What??" Kokona exclaimed, standing up and staring at the phone in her hand with a shocked expression. "How??"

"I'm honestly not sure. But Near called the taskforce, and asked why we didn't know about SALL in the first place. He already suspects me of being Kira, and is now putting doubts about me in the minds of the rest of the taskforce..." Light sighed once again, seeming very stressed and frustrated. "He didn't mention any names, but this guy is good. If he knows about SALL, he probably knows about you."

"Oh well that's just great." Kokona muttered, sighing and rubbing her forehead with her two fingers, "Wait, won't that just make it more suspicious if you're calling me?" She asked, her voice suddenly filled with concern.

"Not my phone," Light explained, "I used a different one for that exact reason. Don't worry, I covered my tracks well." 

"I'm gonna go try to figure out how they figured out SALL exists." Kokona told Light, and stood up to grab her jacket. "They could know about the hideout and there could be a member who leaked the information. So I'm gonna talk to a couple members to see what I can find out."

Trying to find out the leak in SALL turned out to be more difficult than Kokona had previously thought. She met with each member personally, not telling them about the major issue but instead trying to figure out who did it without giving this person the knowledge that she knew.

However, upon meeting with Q, she realized it may not have been intentional.

"What letter are you talking about?" Kokona questioned, raising her brow once Q had asked if she had received one.
