I tap my pen on my desk, rubbing my temple slightly with my other hand.

"So," I begin.
"Just to recap, you don't have any cameras, records, or employees to back up what has happened to mister Skylar?" The lady in front of me shakes her head, digging through her purse for something I'm sure is more important than the murder of one of her workers.

"No, I already told you about twenty times." She pulls out a piece of gum and sticks it in her mouth, balling up the wrapper and flicking it onto the floor. I sigh deeply and lean foreword, laying my head in my arms on top of my desk.

Theses leads have all been complete dead ends, every single one has been a shot in the dark that hasn't paid off. I'm so sick and tired of dead ends.

Noah and Brooke deserve to back with their families, home, safe.

The idea slightly twists my stomach.

I hadn't really ever thought about them leaving, about returning them to their rightful parents. The thought makes me kind of sick...

I sit up as I hear footsteps headed towards me, looking up expecting another useless employee, yet I'm met by Jay's face instead.

"Hey, I was getting ready to head back home to the girls, want to come with me?" I look down at my watch, then look back up at him.

"It's seven o'clock, we get off at eight."

"Voight told me to go check on them, you in or not?" He asks, a chuckle falling over his lips.
I stand up and gather my things, picking up my bag.

"Yeah let's go."

The inside of the car is chilly and the seat is cold on my legs. I shiver and quickly put on my jacket. Jay reaches down to turn on the heat, then looks up to me slightly rubbing his hand over the goosebumps on my arms.

"You warming up?" I nod and he starts up the car with a smile on his face, keeping one hand on my leg.

"I was wondering if you could call will and ask if he could come take a look at one of Naya's-"
