N A Y A
"I'm really fine, Will, I promise. It's not that bad, I swear." He looks up at me, shaking his head.
"Naya, you know as well as I do that I love you with all my heart. But, if I've learned anything from the two years that we've been in this relationship it is that you are, on occasion, full of shit." I crack a small smile at him and shake my head.
"You're unbelievable," I laugh and he sends me back a toothy smile.
"Maybe, but I'm also never wrong when it comes to these kinds of things." I raise an eyebrow at him and he shakes his head.
"Okay, fine, I'm usually right when it comes to these kinds of things." He takes my hand, looking down at it and twisting the ring he gave me for our one year anniversary."You know," I start in a whisper.
"You want to know how much I love that ring?" I ask and he looks up, my hand still fit in his.
"Thats what I went back into the fire to get." His face falls slightly, his grip tightening on my hand."Naya, you didn't have to-"
"Yes." I cut him off.
"I did, I really did." A smile creeps onto my face as I run my free hand through his hair.
"I love you, Will." I sigh deeply, really taking him all in.
"I just, I didn't-""Naya," he interrupts.
"It's okay, you don't have to prove it. I love you, too, plain and simple." I exhale deeply and send him a small smile. His smile slightly fades and I drop my shoulders."What is it, what's wrong?" He squeezes my hand a little tighter and lays his other hand on my knee.
"No more stalling, Naya. Let me see it." I let a long sigh escape my lips, knowing that it's pointless to argue. This will end with him seeing it regardless if I resist any more, so I lay back in the hospital bed and let him win.
He slowly pulls up my shirt to reveal the bullet wound and he sucks in a short breath.
"It's bad, I know." I whisper and he slowly lays his hand on my lower stomach, running his fingers over the skin around the wound.
"You are one seriously lucky girl, you know that?" I swallow hard and nod my head, letting out a deep breath.
"Let's just say that Erin is either careless or one hell of a shot, because she just missed a major muscle." I chuckle and shake my head."The latter of the two, I would hope." He moves his fingers over to the wound, his touch both surprising and hurting me at the same time. I yelp out in pain and he pulls his hand back, looking up at me and reinitiating our gaze.
"Sorry," I whisper, but he only shakes his head.
"It's okay, honey. But I have to do it, I'm sorry." I nod, closing my eyes tightly.
"I know, just, just go ahead and get it over with." I say quietly and he doesn't waste a second before getting right back to it.
He continues to get a read on the injury before finally taking a break and standing up. He walks over to get something to disinfect it is what I would guess and walks back over, kneeling back down.
"This is not gonna feel good, Naya." He says, opening the cap and getting ready to put it on the injury. I nod my head, pressing my lips together and trying to block out any pain that may be coming.
