N A Y A
"A lead?" Jay responds with a childlike curiosity in his voice, a smile taking over his boyish face.
"You got something from Layla last night, didn't you?" He turns to face her more directly, practically beaming at her."Yes, I did, and It's actually pretty good." Before asking Erin any further questions about her lead he turns his head back to me for a quick moment and I look down at him, raising my eyebrows.
"Don't think you're off the hook, we're circling back to you later," he says in a goofy yet serious enough voice referring to the hickey and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Erin, you mentioned you had a lead?" I say, putting our conversation back on the right track.
"Thank you, anyway as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted," she pauses, shooting a look at Jay who nervously sips his coffee and intentionally avoids her gaze.
"Layla gave me a pretty amazing lead last night, I think it could be a major game changer in their case." Jay sets down his coffee and leans in closer, obviously listening more intently now. Erin clears her throat.
"She told me that Lucifer is planning an attack on the girls." She walks behind the island in the center of the kitchen, grabbing her laptop and bringing it back over to the breakfast bar where me and Jay sit.
"She says that she used to take Brooke and Noah to a little ice cream shop on West Manchester but the problem is," she pauses her sentence and turns the computer screen around so that me and Jay can see.
"West Manchester is a main road, it covers a fair distance and there are three ice cream parlors along the one singular road.""So we'll have to narrow it down between three," Jay states.
"And we only have one shot at this." Erin says, finishing her statement. I run the plan over in my head and cross my arms at my chest, pressing my lips together and lean slightly closer to the screen of the computer. I can feel Erin's eyes on my skin and watch her slowly walk closer to me as I study the three locations.
"What is it, Naya?" She asks in a hushed tone before laying her hand on my back, I subtly shake my head, still staring at the screen."Even if we knew for sure which of these places she was talking about, I fail to make the connection between an attack on the girls and the place their mother used to take them when they were kids?" I say questionably, removing my eyes from the screen and studying her reaction.
"That's where things get a little..." her voice fades out and she looks up, seeming to be searching for the right term.
"Complicated. See, Lucifer's team is planning to ruin their only good memory from youth by attacking them at their childhood safe place." She pauses, taking a deep breath.
"That's why we're going to bring them there." My mouth sightly opens in awe and Jay somewhat tilts his head to the side."I'm sorry, I'm confused," Jay says, the statement coming out in pieces. I can't even find the words to express my bewilderment.
"I know it seems crazy," I scoff.
"It seems idiotic," I interrupt and she shoots me a look.
"That's not helpful," She states in a monotone voice and I shake my head.
"Yeah, well neither is this plan. This is a complete gamble, you realize that, right? There's a fifty-fifty chance that this will only end up hurting us."
"Naya's right, babe," Jay says gently, he seems significantly calmer than me.
"We could actually end up losing them, like Naya said it's pretty much a fifty-fifty chance." Erin sighs and sits down on the other side of Jay and me again."Look, I know it's risky, but if Lucifer thinks he has a shot at grabbing these girls again he's going to send his best guys to do it. Worst comes to worst they jump out at them, we grab them, get them to give up their boss."
