"Naya, no!" I hear Erin yell as she disappears back into the house and Brooke yells something along the same lines. Erin grabs onto me tightly as we all just wait for her to come back into view.
The fire intensifies and Brooke starts to run to the door, but Erin catches her in her grip.
"Brooke, stop!" She violently tries to break free, thrashing around in her arms. Another piece of the roof falls in and the fire gets larger.
Still no Naya.
The windows in Brooke's room fill with an orange glow, showing that the fire is spreading.
Still no Naya.
The whole room caves in and Brooke screams, shaking her head.
"No, no this can't happen! No!" She pulls against Erin but she has to stand her ground.
"We can't just leave her in there! She'll die!" She yells, still trying to escape her arms.
"Please, somebody's got to do something!" She yells through tears and I nod my head.
She's right.
I take Erin's face in my hands and she gives me a worry some look.
"I'll be okay." I whisper and she shakes her head.
"Jay, no." She says, her voice shaking and tears welling up in her eyes. I smile at her and kiss her forehead, then her lips.
"Im coming back, I promise." I place a kiss on her lips before running back through the front door
Naya's going to be somewhere up the stairs.
I run up the flight of stairs and open Brooke's door, and sure enough she's in the middle of the floor. I shake my head, refusing to let the smoke get to me. I pick her up off the ground and hold her bridal style in my arms. I run down the stairs and back out though the door as fast as possible.
"Oh my gosh, Naya!" Erin sobs and runs over to me. She lays an ear against her chest and her body grows stiff. She looks back up at me.
"She's not breathing..." she stammers, tears falling down her face. I take a deep breath and lay her on the ground. I look up to Erin.
"Call an ambulance. Call one now, we're not going to have much time." She sucks in a deep shaky breath before shaking her head.
"I don't have my phone," she whispers.
In the corner of my eye I see Noah bolt off the lawn and across the street.
"Noah, no!" Erin yells but she keeps running. Erin lays a hand on my shoulder.
"Do not let her die." She says, before running after Noah.
I turn back to Naya, who's exceptionally more pale than she used to be.
"Okay, honey," I whisper, moving her hair away from her face. I lift her chin and open up her mouth.
This better work.
I press my lips against hers and begin mouth to mouth, breathing my air into her lungs. After a few moments of this, I pull back but nothing has changed. I listen to her breathing and my heart races.
