N A Y A
The heat hits my face and I slam the door. What the hell is going on? Do Erin and Jay know? What's happening?
I hear the shifting of sheets and turn my head towards Brooke. My stomach does a flip as I run over to her, shaking her awake.
"What is it? Is it already morning?" She asks in a groggy voice and I shake my head, pulling the covers down causing her to groan.
"No, honey, it's not. Get up." I say, pulling her out of bed and onto the floor. My heart beats so fast I can barely hear her.
What am I supposed to do?
I run over to the closet and pull out a pair of black sweats and throw them to her. She can't just have bare skin exposed, she could get burned.
"Put those on." She shakes her head.
"I don't understand, what's going on?" Her voice sounds slightly more alert now. I rush over to her and kneel down.
"Honey, the house is on fire." Her eyes widen in fear and she opens her mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. I stand up and take her head in my hands, glancing at the door.
"Everything's gonna be okay, I promise." She shakes her head, realizing what's happening."No," she stammers, grabbing onto my arm and holding it tightly.
"No, don't!" She says, fear hanging in her voice. I smile at her, really taking in all her beauty. Her gorgeous green eyes, her long dark hair, the small freckles that frame her features. And for a second I really feel like it all might be okay.
I nod my head and brush a piece of hair away from her face, laying my forehead against hers.
"I love you, Brooklyn, I love you so much..." I whisper before kissing her head and running to the door, opening it and stepping out into the burning hallway.
I hear her yelling for me to come back but I have to ignore it.
I try to find my way to Erin's room but the smoke is too thick, everything is covered in a layer of grey smoke and blazing red flames. I try to find the door but something else catches my eye.
On the wall connecting Brooke's room to Erin's there's huge red lettering.
WE TOLD YOU TO
GIVE US BACK OUR GIRLS
NOW YOU'LL ALL GO DOWN
IN FLAMESI shake my head, taking my eyes away from the words and finally barging into Erin's room, closing the door behind me.
I cough, trying to catch a breath of fresh air, and walk over to her bed. I flip the lights on and shake Erin awake. She squeezes her eyes shut and rolls over.
"What the hell, whats-" she stops as soon as she sees me. I catch a glance of my reflection in her mirror. I look terrifying.
"Naya, what is happening?""The house is on fire, c'mon, I need to get you out of here." I watch the confusion fill her eyes and shake my head.
"Come on, we don't have time for that, hurry!" She nods and shakes Jay awake, her breaths shaky."What's going on?" He asks and I groan.
"Come on! We don't have time for this!" Erin pulls him out of bed and I open the door.
