Narrator's POV

Being the little sister of Cala Maria is not that bad, except she doesn't want you to interact with land dwellers. She's dead worried about the dangers in the land, especially that sleazy manager. KD usually walks near the sea bay during his day offs. Cala Maria saw it as a threat, for she knew that he has plans to either knockout her, or her little sister, "Maria? May I go with you?" You asked her while she was preparing stuff, "Unfortunately, no. You have to watch over this home of ours." She sadly replied, "But don't worry! I'll be back soon." She remarked with a smile as she gave you a forehead kiss, "See you then." You trailed off as she waved at you. After she left, an idea popped up in your mind. This idea is breaking the rules, "Since Maria is away, perhaps I can go out of the surface & observe people." You grin with great mischief. No regrets at all.

You left your home, and swam as quickly as possible towards the sky blue surface. The waters became warmer as you further swam up. And finally, you were able to breath the fresh sea air. You can finally see the wonders of the land. The seagulls squawked out as they flew to the south, the citizens of Inkwell Isle were enjoying the moments together. Oh how magnificent the land is! "Well, Soosang told me there's another mermaid aside from Cala. Perhaps she's telling the true." A voice in a distance remarked to himself. You finally saw the man that was talked about by your sister. He doesn't look that bad, unless he can magically kill everything that moves, "Soosang? Is that my sister's friend?"

You didn't realize that you were exposing yourself: Your head & upper torso out of the water, "Hmm, she must be the one." KD replied to himself softly. He walked towards the wooden pathway on the sea, and saw you, "Why, hello there!" He greeted with a smile, and you immediately gasped & dived into the waters with fear. Socializing land dwellers is not your thing, "Wait, come back!" He yelled out, "I didn't mean to scare you!" Maybe, you can trust him. You then swam up again except you slowly went out of the surface, "Really? Cala often talks about you being a sleazy bastard." You replied firmly. He sighed in response, "Yes, I am a sleazy bastard, but not really." He added with a shrug, "If you say so." Suspicious...

"Anyways, what's your name doll?" He asked you in awe, "(Y/N)." You responded with a small smile, "KD. Nice to meet you." He replied with a small grin, "Nice to meet you in person!" You cheerfully remarked, "Are you supposed to be Cala's little sister?" KD asked you with wonder, "Yup! And I'm kinda different." You exclaimed. It's true your kinda different. Your tale wasn't plain green like your sister's, but instead it's a gradient from emerald green to dark teal. The scales were slightly shiny as well. You showed off your tail by bringing up to the surface, resulting KD being fascinated, "It's actually beautiful. Soosang's correct." He was distracted by your tail that he leaned forward, resulting him splashing into the warm sea. He began to panic, as he began to drown.

You immediately dragged his body up to the surface, while he was panting heavily. He can't swim, "Dear goodness, you saved me." He replied between pants & coughs, "I, thank you." He murmured with relief, "No problem, KD." You replied back to him, "Since, I'm wet, I must go back to, well, change." He replied with a chuckle. Since it's going to be evening, the warm air slowly became cold, "Golly, this made it worse." He shivered slightly, "But don't worry, I can handle this." He replied with a grin, "If you say so." You giggled, "Will we meet again?" You suddenly asked him as he stood up from the wooden pathway, "Yes, in the following day." KD responded.

Both of you bid farewells, and you quickly swam back to your home. The good thing id that Maria wasn't home yet. She will never know what happened to you. You broke her rule, but at least you met the handsome yet sleazy manager...

"You know, Soosang. I saw the most beautiful mermaid in my entire life."
"You mean, (Y/n)? Yeah, I know."
"But she said Cala forbids her to interact land dwellers."
"Good thing I'm the only child, Diceo."
"Don't call me that, please."

Ehh...Not that bad though, at least it's not short
