July 4th, 6:50 PMIt's been a couple of weeks since Charli was sick and everything has returned back to normal. Cain hasn't been around in three weeks, not even attempting to come see his daughter, and it was throwing me completely off.
I wasn't complaining because I didn't have to deal with him constantly putting his hands on me, but we do have a child who is curious about the whereabouts of her father.
But anytime he moved in silence, I had a feeling that something wasn't right.
I haven't spoken to Dave since I met him that night in the club, but I'm not pressed because I figured that this would happen. So much for making new friends.
I was currently at my Aunt Steph's 4th of July cookout that she holds every year, with Charli and Kendra.
I was in desperate need of this type of energy for a while. To be surrounded by people who were carefree and full of nothing but positivity.
I watched as Charli and Kendra's son, Jonathan, ran around with the other kids in the yard.
Kendra was too busy talking her head off about her husband.
"Girl then he had the nerve to ask me to rub his feet last night. I looked at him like he was crazy. I should be asking him that," she said before taking a sip from her wine cooler.
I shook my head while laughing at her.
"Speaking of the devil," she said as she watched her husband, Brandon, walk up to us.
I greeted him as he proceeded to go kiss Kendra, I smiled as I watched them interact with one another.
Kendra had what I have always wanted, a happy home and relationship. Don't get me wrong, Charli is everything I have always wanted and will ever need. But I want the perfect family picture and I can't seem to get that.
"I wish I had a husband to irritate me."
"Yeah, you say that looking from the outside in," she said while rolling her eyes.
I looked at her sideways before ignoring what she said.
We continued to talk about everything under the sun, as if we don't see each other everyday at work.
"So you haven't seen Cain in a few weeks?" Kendra asked.
I nodded my head, not in the mood to talk about him right now.
"Hm, that's weird," she said while taking another sip of her wine cooler. She's had too many if you ask me. "But don't speak too soon," she said while looking behind me.
I followed her eyes to be met with Cain's.
"Fuck," I mumbled under my breath before turning back around to face Kendra. "How the hell did he know where I was?"
