"Girl I told you it wasn't going to be that bad. You were overdoing it," Courtnie said as she was finishing up Raelynn's hair.
We were currently on FaceTime while I was on my lunch break, and I was explaining to her how I told Dave about the pregnancy.
"I know, I just always think of the worst possible thing happening."
"Mhm, Miss negative nancy,"
I playfully rolled my eyes while I munched on my Chick Fil A salad. This was the fourth salad I had from there within a two week span, and it was a craving that I just couldn't get rid of right now.
"Yeah, I have to leave work early for my appointment," I said while checking the time on my watch. "It's going to be Dave's first time seeing the baby," I smiled.
"Oh this is so exciting. I'm so happy for the two of you!" she squealed. "Your little family is finally coming together."
She was right, everything that was going on right now in my life felt so right. I couldn't thank anyone but the man upstairs for everything, but I was still keeping myself alert at all times. I shouldn't have to live my life always checking over my shoulder, but because of who I chose to deal with... this is the way things are.
I don't regret it, only for Charli. She is the best and only good thing that was a product of that so-called "relationship," at one point.
I'm just scared honestly. Every time something feels like its going right for us, something or someone makes sure that the happiness is short-lived.
Courtnie knocked me out off my thoughts as she started talking again, "Alright, I'm going to let you get back to work. Keep me updated," she said while blowing kisses into the camera.
"I will," I said before returning the gesture and hanging up.
I finished up my lunch and saw that Dave sent me a text while I was on the phone with Courtnie.

No, I don't want to have to come all the way back here to pick up my car. I'll meet you at the house and we can go together.

I giggled before locking my phone, so I could finish up the couple hours of work I had left. I didn't have to worry about picking Charli up either, since she was going to spend the afternoon with Junie.

I tightly wrapped my towel around me as I stepped out of the shower and applied my cocoa butter to my skin. I then walked into my closet to find something comfortable to put on for the appointment.
