This chapter is one of my personal recommended knowledge before you delves into chinese character

Chinese character or the word can be complex and challenging. But knowing this radicals can be very helpful for you to recognize and recall the character in implications.

You don't have to memorize them for the moment, skimmed it and make sure that you know about them.

I included some examples of the word/chinese character so that you could learn words in the process.

字旁 zì pǎng
Is "beside the word".
It is also known as radicals, which stands beside other strokes or radicals to form a complete a chinese character.

字旁 zì pǎng = 部首 bù shǒu
Both means radicals/beside the word

The common "beside the word" or radicals are as follows.

言字旁

yán zì páng

name of "speech" or "words" radical in Chinese characters
訁|讠
*yán*

Example :

说 shūo means say

谁 shéi means who

言 yá means say or words.

*yan here can stand as an independent character or as a beside word *

Rén zì páng

Or also known as

单人旁
dān rén pǎng

Name of "people" radical in chinese characters

Example :

伤 shāng means hurt

住 zhù  means live (at somewhere)

变化 biàn huà means changes

Hǔo zì páng

Name of "fire" radical in chinese characters

Example:

炒 chǎo means fried

烧 shāo means burn/roast/ grill
