Today I'll share with you some ways to say no that will come in handy if you know the difference.

Stay with me till the end of this chapter :)

1. 没有 (méiyŏu)
&
2. 不 ()

Both of this means 'Not'

But... put in different circumstances and sentences intents, it will be different.

Let's dive into the rules and example to clear it up for you. :)

Some rules you need to remember beforehand:

• 没有 can never used with ‘是’

• 不 + 是 =  means 'not'

• 没有 can means 'don't have' or 'not' depending on the context

• 不 is used for present and future tense, while 没有 is used for past tense and past perfect.

Example:

1.  我没有时间。
Wǒ méiyǒu shíjiān
I don't have time

2. 我没空。
Wǒ méi kōng. 
I'm busy / I'm not available.

3. 我没有去。
Wǒ méiyǒu qù.
I didn't go.

°

4. 我没去过英国。
Wǒ méi qùguò yīng guó
I haven't been to England.

°

5. 我不去了。
Wǒ bù qùle
I'm not going.

°

6. 他现在不在。
Tā xiànzài bùzài
He's not 'here'/ He's not home.

°

7. 她不喝酒。
Tā bù hējiǔ
She don't drink beer.

°

8. 我弟弟不是十二岁。
Wǒ dìdì bùshì shí'èr shǎo
My brother is not twelve years old.

°

9. 今天不是九月十号。
Jīntiān bùshì jiǔ yuè shí hào.
Today is not 10th September.
