When you enter a restaurant, you'll probably hear the waiter/waitress say。。。

欢迎光临 OR 欢迎
Huānyíng guānglín OR Huānyíng
which means
"welcome"

Or in a family restaurant, they'll often say 。。。

Qǐng

Please take a seat
请坐
Qǐng Zuò

They would probably ask you。。。

你们几位?
Nǐmen jǐ wèi?

How many people?

As for 位 wèi,it means "person".
