I lost him ( Avengers Infinity War)

Tony didn't have to say Nebula just knew.

Arriving on earth the two landed in Wakanda. Seeing as what they had just been through the people were on edge but as Tony emerged from the ship they went back the grieving. Tony limped out of the ship holding his side looking around at the destruction of Wakanda his eyes lastly landing on Steve.

Steve.

Steve saw him he was shocked at first but took a few steps forward. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came he truly knew not what to say but that was okay Tony didn't know what to say either. several others gathered quietly behind Steve the other Avengers at least the ones still around.

Tony's lip quivered as he took a step forward arms stretched out.

"I Lost the kid"

Steve caught him in a hug as he collapsed. He held him tightly so he wouldn't fall. He knew who the kid was he knew what Tony had lost and how he had lost him he didn't question it.

"I lost Bucky"

Steve said his lip quivering as well as he held on tighter to Tony now it was to make sure he didn't fall.

"I lost Wanda and Vision and T'challa and Sam... I made a new friend as well his name was Groot he was a kid too... I lost him" His nails dug deep into Tony's flesh as he held back his tears held back the pain. But his voice still shook with every name he spoke.

"I made new friends as well... Peter Quill, Drax, Mantis, and a Doctor Strange ..I lost them "

"no, no, no," Rocket said as he heard Tony list of his friend's names "what about Gamora please Gamora"

"she is gone as well she was the first to go. She had to go for the soul stone" Nebula said shedding tears for her sister

"oh no, oh god no, no, no" Rocket cried dropping his weapon and to his knees, he was the last of them he was the last of the guardians. His greatest fear had come to light he was truly alone now he had nothing no one, no family, no friends, no nothing he didn't even have a home he was stuck on a planet that wasn't even his surrounded by strangers. Forever alone now.

Finally hearing Rocket's cries Tony finally let his tears fall. He had no reason to hold the back he had lost something in important today and he was going to grieve like everyone else, Hero or not.

Steve followed suit feeling the tears soak through his suit and hearing his friend's sob. His tears flowed soaking Tony's wounds. He had lost love today he had lost his only love today and he was no hero so her cried like a human. 90 years of sadness soaked Tony's shoulder. And a decade of iron man soaked his.

"I'm sorry" Tony cried as held on to Steve knees grown weak. " I'm so sorry"

"No, I'm sorry. Please forgive me" Steve said

Steve hand no strength left. They both fell to their knees clinking to each other as if the other would disappear right then and there as if the other would shatter into dust. As if Thanos wasn't done taking away. This person right here in their arms represented everyone else in their hearts and if this person was to fall into dust so would their hearts... their will to live.

"I lost him" Steve sobbed. It broke ever one's heart.

"I lost him too" Tony joined his cries. And with that the entire world no... the entire universe fell in to grieve. For everyone had lost half of everything.
