Just let me burn.

It's what I deserve.

Why was fate so cruel to him?

Nightmare was currently locked up, in his opinion, in a cage. Not only that, there was a fence surrounding it. To further mock him, the guard was a bird/bunny monster mix.

And as a cherry on top, he could've avoided imprisonment if he could fly.

The magic blocker forced him to stay put, unable to escape the cage. He couldn't teleport. He couldn't summon portals. He couldn't do anything.

...

Nightmare whipped his head towards the door as he heard footsteps. He had a feeling this visit isn't going to be pleasant, and he was proven correct when Dream walked through the doors with a few guards in regalia suitable for executions.

His worst nightmare was about to come true.

Dream's keys jangled as he unlocked the cell. Nightmare didn't dare escape- he would be caught before he ever truely got free. Once the door was unlocked and open, one of the executers went inside and roughly grabbed Nightmare by the shoulder. He was led outside the cage where he was surrounded by the others, Dream in front of him.

He was led to the execution room.

"Bring me my sword. I've already signed all the papers, Justice Reigns will be ready to go without me." Dream commanded. Two executers went away into another room.

"We will all miss you," one of the executers said. Dream nodded sadly.

...

I found my chance.

I summoned a portal, which everyone in the room whipped their heads towards me, but I fled fast enough so that they didn't immediately catch me. However, the portal did not close fast enough, as Dream followed me.

The rocks underneath me crunched as I ran fast, my breath escaping me faster then I could take in. Dream caught up to me easily, grabbing my cape. "Do you know how much trouble you have caused?" He spat.

I struggled and struggled, eventually the cape ripping halfway off. I ran some more, unaware of the direction I was heading until I could no longer feel ground under me.

I fell down, seeing my demise in from of me: Lava.

This was how it ended.

I could hear a painful scream that was not only mine as I touched the burning surface. Everything felt surreal. I felt a strange sense of... coolness? Was this like how when a man dies due to fatal chill, at his very last moments he feels warmth?

But I decided not to dwell on my last few seconds alive of that.

Because I knew I would never gain wings in the aether.

Watch my wings burn, as they burn in the fire

And then scatter the ashes

And then lead for the choir!
