While Tzuyu was glued to her phone, Sana regained consciousness. The Japanese blinked a few times, eyes adjusting to the unfamiliar ceiling. She slowly looked around, confusion settling in until her gaze landed on a tall girl sitting beside her, lazily scrolling through her phone.
When Tzuyu noticed Sana staring, she slipped her phone into her pocket and stretched slightly.
“Finally,” she said. “You’re awake. We have to go, it’s already past nine, and I have important stuff to do.”
Without waiting for a response, Tzuyu turned and headed for the door. Sana scrambled off the bed and hurried after her, panic bubbling up again at the reminder of time.
“Wait up!” Sana said breathlessly, walking beside her. “Do you...uh, do you happen to know where the Student Affairs President’s office is? I really need to get there ASAP. I’m already an hour late.”
“I’ll pass by there,” Tzuyu replied casually, sliding her phone into her pocket. Sana’s eyes lit up. Without thinking, she grabbed Tzuyu’s wrist. “Thank you! Really, thank you so much.”
Tzuyu looked down at Sana’s hand holding hers. Then up at her face. Then back to her hand again as if realizing something dangerous had just happened.
“It’s nothing,” Tzuyu said, pulling her hand away gently but firmly. “And don’t touch me. I don’t like people touching me.”
She paused before adding, quieter— “Unless we’re that close.”
“Oh,sorry,” Sana said quickly, feeling oddly embarrassed.
As they resumed walking. Silence followed. Sana stole a glance at the taller girl.
'Is she always like this?' Sana wondered. Her looks are deceiving. She’s pretty, just… rude. But if she were really that bad, she would’ve left me bleeding. And she didn’t. She even walked me here.
A few minutes passed. The silence became unbearable.
“Uh… this school is way bigger than I thought,” Sana said, forcing a smile. “I’m Sana, by the way. And you are?”
Tzuyu didn’t respond right away. She just smiled. Then Sana nearly tripped.
'Seriously? Wait—she’s smiling?!' Sana thought.
“You’re cute,” Tzuyu said, glancing at her. “But sorry. I’m not the type to give my name to random people.” Just like that, her intimidating aura returned.
“Not gonna tell me your name, huh?” Sana mused, tapping her chin. “Hmm… then I’ll call you Long-leg.”
Tzuyu looked at her, amused.
I know I’ve been cold to her, Tzuyu thought. Yet here she is, giving me a nickname like it’s nothing. It’s… cute.
“You’re not the first person I met today,” Sana continued proudly, “but I feel comfortable around you. So you get a nickname.”
Tzuyu hummed in response then suddenly grabbed Sana’s hand.
“We should hurry.” Sana stared at their hands, confused, but followed as Tzuyu picked up her pace.
Moments later, they stopped near the library. “That’s the office you’re looking for,” Tzuyu said, pointing ahead.
Sana looked up. “Aren’t you coming with me?”
Tzuyu’s phone rang.
“I have to go,” she replied, answering the call.
“You study here, right?” Sana asked.
“Yeah,” Tzuyu said, already turning away. “See you around.” She waved casually and walked off.
“Long-leg!” Sana called out, waving excitedly. “Thank you again! Hope to see you around!”
Tzuyu didn’t turn back, but her lips curved into a small smile.
Don’t worry, Sana, she thought. I’ll find a way to see you again. You’re interesting.
And with that, she finally focused on the voice speaking on the other end of the line.
