As Sana left the dorm, she called Tzuyu right away. The moment Tzuyu heard the gloom in Sana’s voice, she didn’t hesitate, she headed out immediately.
At the fountain where they usually met, Tzuyu found Sana sitting alone on a bench, sobbing quietly. She rushed over and pulled the blonde into her arms, gently rubbing her back until Sana slowly calmed down.
Since sneaking Sana into the junior dorm was impossible due to strict rules and regulations, Tzuyu suggested that Sana should stay at her apartment. Sana stubbornly refused and instead asked to be taken to Nayeon’s house.
Without arguing further, the two walked there together. When they arrived, Sana opened her bag and searched for her key, only to freeze. She forgot it. She hadn’t brought anything with her except a small pouch.
“Should I go get it for you?” Tzuyu offered. “Or we can borrow Chaeyoung’s or Nayeon-unnie’s spare key.”
Sana shook her head. “No.”
After a moment, she sighed. “I changed my mind. I’ll stay at your place.”
Tzuyu blinked. “Are you sure?”
“I don’t want them to worry,” Sana replied softly. With that, they walked back to campus and drove to Tzuyu’s apartment.
Half an hour later, they stopped in front of a silver doorway. Tzuyu stepped ahead, unlocking the door and gesturing Sana inside.
“Welcome to my place,” she said, then paused and smiled. “No, Let me rephrase that. Welcome to our place. Whatever is mine is yours too.” She slouched onto the sofa casually.
Sana slowly looked around. The apartment wasn’t as fancy as her place back in Japan, but it was neat, warm, and comfortable.
“I like it,” Sana said sincerely.
"My parents gave it to me for my eighteenth birthday,” Tzuyu replied.
'Wait… this feels familiar.' Sana turned, and caught Tzuyu already looking at her.
Suddenly, her face heated up as a memory from one of her very naughty dreams replayed in her mind, one where she and Tzuyu were far too intimate for comfort.
Flustered, Sana quickly looked away and shook her head, trying to banish the thought.
“Are you okay?” Tzuyu asked, stepping closer and gently holding Sana by the arms. She noticed the redness on Sana’s face.
“Y-yeah. I’m fine,” Sana replied, stuttering.
'What’s wrong with me? Why am I stuttering?' she scolded herself while avoiding Tzuyu’s gaze.
“You must be tired,” Tzuyu said softly. “Come, I’ll show you the bedroom.”
She took Sana’s hand and led her inside.
The moment Sana saw the bed, another scene replayed in her head.
'Seriously… what am I thinking?
Well… she is my girlfriend,' Sana reasoned, flushing even more.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Tzuyu spoke again.
“By the way, Chaeyoung went to your room earlier and noticed you weren’t there. I told her you’re with me and staying here tonight. Don’t worry, I didn’t mention anything about you and Momo-unnie.”
“You… you’re sleeping here?” Sana asked.
“Yeah,” Tzuyu nodded. “I can’t leave you alone. But I’ll sleep on the couch. You take the bed.”
Sana frowned. 'She’ll get a stiff neck,' Sana thought.
The couch was clearly too small for Tzuyu.
“I’ll sleep on the couch,” Sana insisted.
Tzuyu gave her a knowing look and leaned closer, her face just inches away.
“We won’t fit there,” she said quietly, smirking before pulling back.
Sana’s eyes widened.
'Stupid. Why did you say that? Now she probably thinks-' She squeezed her eyes shut, mortified.
A moment later, Tzuyu returned and handed her a towel.
“You can wear anything from the closet,” she said gently. “I’ll be on the sofa. If you need anything, just call me. Good night, Sana.”
She kissed Sana’s crown softly before leaving the room, giving her space. Sana stood there, heart racing, long after the door closed.
The room grew quiet after Tzuyu left.
Sana stood there for a while, clutching the towel, her heartbeat refusing to calm down. She changed quickly, slipping into one of Tzuyu’s oversized shirts. It smelled faintly like her, clean, warm, comforting, and that alone made Sana’s chest tighten.
She lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
Minutes passed. Then… a soft thud. Sana sat up immediately.
“Tzuyu?” she called softly.
No answer.
After hesitating for a moment, she stood and quietly opened the bedroom door.
The living room light was dim. Tzuyu was lying on the couch, her long legs awkwardly bent, one arm hanging off the edge. Her brows were slightly furrowed, as if even sleep couldn’t fully relax her. Sana swallowed.
"She really doesn’t fit there…"
Carefully, she walked closer. As she leaned down, her fingers brushed against Tzuyu’s hand—warm. Tzuyu stirred.
“Sana…?” she murmured, eyes half-open.
“I—I just wanted to check on you,” Sana whispered. “You look uncomfortable.”
Tzuyu blinked a few times before realizing how close Sana was. Their faces were only inches apart.
“I’m fine,” Tzuyu said quietly, though she didn’t move her hand away.
Sana noticed. Her fingers were still lightly touching Tzuyu’s knuckles. Neither of them pulled back.
After a beat, Tzuyu sighed. “You won’t be able to sleep if you keep worrying.”
“And you won’t sleep properly here,” Sana replied softly.
Another pause.
“…You can lie down,” Tzuyu finally said. “Just until I fall asleep.”
Sana hesitated. “Just… until you fall asleep.”
She carefully lay beside Tzuyu on the couch, their bodies close, too close, but not touching… at least not intentionally.
The couch was narrow. A small shift, and Sana’s shoulder brushed against Tzuyu’s arm.
Both froze. “Sorry,” Sana whispered.
“It’s okay,” Tzuyu replied just as softly.
They stayed still, listening to each other breathe. Then the couch creaked as Tzuyu adjusted slightly, and her hand rested against Sana’s waist. Accidentally.
She stiffened immediately.
“Sana, I—”
“It’s okay,” Sana said quickly, her voice barely above a breath. “You can… leave it.”
Tzuyu’s fingers twitched, unsure, before relaxing again, resting there, warm and grounding. Sana’s heart pounded so loudly she was sure Tzuyu could hear it.
A moment after, Sana shifted too, her forehead lightly touching Tzuyu’s shoulder. Neither of them spoke. The closeness felt different now. Softer. Heavier.
“Sana?” Tzuyu murmured.
“Mm?”
“I’m glad you came here tonight.”
Sana smiled faintly, eyes closing. “Me too.”
Without thinking, she reached for Tzuyu’s sleeve just enough to hold on. Tzuyu responded by gently tightening her arm around Sana, careful, protective.
Nothing more, nothing less and yet, it felt like everything.
