While Sana was lost in a deep slumber, her sister, on the other hand, couldn’t stop worrying. Both Sana and Nayeon had always been terrified of thunder and lightning.
“I hope Sana-unnie is doing fine with Nayeon-unnie right now,” Chaeyoung murmured as she stared out the window. She was currently staying at Mina’s apartment and the rain tapping relentlessly against the glass.
“You seem really worried,” Mina commented gently. “You two must be very close.”
“Sana-unnie is my very first friend,” Chaeyoung said with a small, proud smile.
“She means everything to me.” She didn’t notice the slight sting her words caused. “She’s also scared of thunder and lightning,” Chaeyoung added. Mina simply hummed in response.
Meanwhile, Jeongyeon headed to Nayeon’s house after receiving a text from Jihyo, asking her to keep Nayeon company. Jihyo couldn’t leave her younger sisters alone during the storm.
Understanding the situation, Jeongyeon didn’t hesitate. Despite their constant bickering, she cared deeply for her friend.
Now standing outside Nayeon’s house, she pressed the doorbell and waited.
Nothing.
She rang it again, brows furrowing. When still no one answered, she tried calling, but the call went unanswered. Letting out a sigh, she returned to her car and grabbed Jihyo’s spare key.
The moment she stepped inside, Jeongyeon searched the house, worry creeping in as every room came up empty.
“Nayeon, where are you?” she muttered. “We fight a lot, but you’re still my best friend.”
Finally, she checked the guest room.
As she sat on the bed, she noticed a slight movement coming from the cabinet. Slowly, she tiptoed closer and opened it.
There she found Nayeon, curled up and hugging herself. Jeongyeon immediately crouched down and gently held her arm.
“Hey… it’s okay. You can come out now.”
“What took you so long?” Nayeon snapped, glaring at her.
“It’s raining,” Jeongyeon reasoned. “Where will I sleep?”
“At my room, obviously. Where else?” Nayeon replied, dragging her along.
“You’ll sleep on the left, and I’ll take the other side,” Nayeon declared.
“I’m the visitor, I get to choose,” Jeongyeon countered. “I’ll take the right.”
“This is my house! I should decide where I sleep,” Nayeon argued.
“Fine,” Jeongyeon said casually. “I’ll just go home then.” She turned to leave.
“Yah!” Nayeon rushed to block her. “Don’t leave or I’ll tell Jihyo you were bullying me!”
“So?” Jeongyeon shrugged. “I can deal with her tomorrow.”
“Fine!” Nayeon sighed in defeat. “You can take the side you want.”
“That’s a good choice,” Jeongyeon said with a victorious grin.
'Why am I even friends with you?' Nayeon thought, forcing a smile and resisting the urge to roll her eyes.
As they settled into bed, Nayeon placed a pillow barrier between them but Jeongyeon wasn’t done teasing.
“Aren’t you scared? It’s just the two of us,” she said slyly. “I might do something inappropriate.”
“Inappropriate your ass,” Nayeon scoffed. “Try me. What could you possibly do?”
Jeongyeon smirked and slowly hovered over her. Nayeon cringed, bracing herself, and with all her strength, she kicked Jeongyeon straight off the bed.
“What the hell?!” Jeongyeon hissed, clutching her sore backside.
“Serves you right,” Nayeon snapped. “Next time, make sure you’re ready for the consequences.” She threw a pillow, hitting Jeongyeon square in the face.
Jeongyeon grabbed it and threw it back, but Nayeon caught it easily, sticking her tongue out.
Rolling her eyes, Jeongyeon climbed back onto the bed and yanked the blanket so hard that Nayeon nearly toppled over.
“Don’t complain or I'll go home.” Jeongyeon warned, already cocooned in the comforter. “And don’t snore. It’s disturbing.”
