It was past seven in the evening when Sana decided to head home to Nayeon’s house. Just as she left, dark clouds slowly spread across the sky. Sana silently prayed, hoping she would make it home before the rain started. Thunder and lightning had always terrified her, and the looming sky only made her more anxious. She was in the middle of driving when the motorbike suddenly sputtered and stopped.
…Out of gas.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Sana groaned. “Of all people, why am I the one with the worst luck today?” she muttered, tugging at her hair in frustration.
She looked around, hoping to see a passing vehicle or even another person, but all that surrounded her were tall trees and the distant sound of waves crashing against rocks. Only then did she realize she might be near the beach.
Panicking, the Japanese girl rummaged through her bag for her phone to text Nayeon and her heart sank when she saw there was no signal.
Moments later, rain began to fall. At first it was light, but it quickly grew heavier. Sana paced back and forth, unsure of what to do.
The rain poured mercilessly, soaking her clothes as her worry turned into fear. Tears welled up and mixed with the rain on her cheeks. She eventually sank down beside the motorbike, hugging her knees to her chest.
That was when a car slowed nearby.
Tzuyu had been heading back to the Kim family’s penthouse after picking up some personal things when she noticed a familiar figure through the heavy rain.
“Sana-unnie!” Tzuyu called as she stepped out of the vehicle and hurried toward her. “What happened?”
“The motorbike stopped working,” Sana cried. “I can’t call my cousin...the signal’s gone, and there’s no one else around.”
Tzuyu gently shushed her. “It’s okay. I’ll bring you home,” she said softly, offering comfort.
“Thank you… but what about the motorbike?” Sana asked worriedly. “It’s not mine. I can’t just leave it here.”
“We’ll get help for it later. Don’t worry,” Tzuyu assured her as she guided Sana to the car.
Just as they got inside, the rain poured even harder, blurring the road ahead.
“We can’t drive back to the city in weather like this,” Tzuyu explained. “I’ll take you to the nearest penthouse instead.”
Sana simply nodded, too shaken to argue. Tzuyu then stepped out once more, carefully moving the motorbike to the side of the road and covering it with large leaves before returning to the car and driving off toward the penthouse.
“Thanks… you saved me once again,” Sana murmured. Tzuyu glanced at her and smiled softly in response.
