As time passed, the school year officially began, yet Tzuyu still hadn’t told Sana about her true identity.
Day by day, Sana gained recognition for her outstanding academic performance. Coupled with her striking visuals and warm personality, she quickly became someone admired by both men and women alike.
Her friends on the other hand were already popular in their own right. Jeongyeon, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu were well-known as part of the university’s sports MVPs.
As for Momo, she joined the university dance troupe, BLACK PINK, as dancing had always been her passion. There were many other popular students on campus, but Sana paid little attention to such things. She was almost oblivious to her own popularity, too focused on her studies and the people she cared about most—her family, Chaeyoung, and Nayeon.
Sana also grew close to Mina, treating the younger girl with the same affection she showed Momo. Although Mina felt a slight twinge of jealousy over Sana’s closeness to Chaeyoung, she never felt uncomfortable around the brunette. Instead, she felt warmth and fondness rather than insecurity.
That evening, Sana was on her way to the seniors’ dorm when one of her classmates caught up with her.
“Hey,” the guy said as he walked beside her.Sana only hummed in response.
“So, uh… I can’t believe you’re not in a relationship,” he continued. “You’re pretty, smart, and totally girlfriend material. I was really surprised when I found out you’re single.”
“Well, I don’t have time for that,” Sana replied plainly. “Besides, it feels like a waste of time.”
“I like the way you think,” Mark said with a small laugh. “But dating isn’t a waste. You just need the right partner so it doesn’t feel boring.”
“Ah, I see,” Sana answered, clearly uninterested.
“So… would you consider going out with me?” Mark asked boldly.
“I’m sorry, Mark,” Sana said apologetically. “I’m not in a relationship, but I already have someone in mind.”
“Oh?” he asked. “Is he one of our classmates?”
“She’s a junior,” Sana answered indirectly. “From the basketball MVP.”
Unbeknownst to Sana, all the junior basketball MVPs were girls.
Mark, being an MVP himself from the volleyball team, knew most of the athletes in the university. Thinking of the most popular name, he hesitated before asking, “Chou Tzuyu?”
“Yes,” Sana replied immediately, just to end the conversation.
'Whoever you are, Tzuyu, I’m sorry for dragging you into this,' she thought.
Mark was about to say something else when Sana noticed a familiar figure walking alone nearby.
“Long-leg!” Sana called out, waving her hand. Tzuyu looked over, surprised, before walking toward them.
“I’m sorry, Mark,” Sana said quickly. “We need to go.” She slipped her arm through Tzuyu’s, pulling her along and leaving Mark standing there, speechless.
As they headed toward the library, Tzuyu finally spoke.
“So… what exactly are we supposed to do at the library at this hour?” she asked. “I mean, yeah, it’s open until eleven, but still.”
“Mark was hitting on me,” Sana explained. “He asked me out, and I said no. I told him I liked someone from the junior basketball MVP. He asked if it was Tzuyu, and I just said yes to get rid of him.”
Tzuyu stopped walking for a second, then smiled.“You said you wanted to date Chou Tzuyu?”
“I didn’t say I wanted to date her,” Sana protested. “It was just an excuse. Why are you smiling?”
“You rejected Mark,” Tzuyu replied simply. 'And you even used me to do it,' she added silently.
“I don’t like him,” Sana said cautiously. “Was that bad?”
“No,” Tzuyu answered. “It was good. You didn’t like him, and you stood your ground. That was brave.” Her smile didn’t fade, and Sana found herself staring, then poking the dimple on Tzuyu’s cheek.
“You look really adorable when you smile,” Sana said softly. “You should do it more often.” She pinched Tzuyu’s cheek lightly, making the younger girl laugh.
At the library, they settled into a quiet corner and worked on their assignments. When they finished, they walked out hand in hand before eventually parting ways.
On her way back to the dorm, Tzuyu suddenly felt someone jump onto her back.
“You scared me,” she said, steadying herself. “Why are you still up? It’s late.”
If it had been Dahyun or anyone else, she would’ve already thrown them into a nearby trash bin.
“I went to your room,” Somi said lazily. “But Dahyun-unnie said you were at the gym, so I walked around. Now I’m tired and sleepy. Carry me to my room.”
Without arguing, Tzuyu carried Somi on her back all the way to Somi’s door. Before going inside, Somi leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
“Good night.”
Tzuyu watched her disappear into the room, unaware that someone nearby had been filming the entire scene. With a victorious grin, the person quickly uploaded the video to the university’s secret file before heading back to the men’s dorm.
