I finished lacing up my worn-out converse's and stood up looking into the body length mirror in the girl's locker room. I can't believe I was actually going to run track with my best friend PonyBoy. Me and him would race all the time and he encouraged me to try out for track this year. So I did.

Now we were at the state championship and I and PonyBoy would be the lead runners. But boy was I nervous. I tightened my ponytail and I walked out the doors to the locker and onto the track field. "Hey Y/N! You ready to win?" Pony asked. I laughed nodding, I took a seat on the bench and I watched them practice. Dang, they were fast.

"Y/N I can tell that look on your face, and just know that your one of the best players on the team. You got this! I believe in you!" He encouraged. I blushed looking up into his green eyes. "You do?" I asked. He nodded putting my hand in his. "Yes I do because I know you could lead this team to victory, " he said. He eyes stared deeply into mine.

"Ok let's get this game on the road, leading off for Tulsa Oklahoma is PonyBoy Curtis, and Y/N Y/L/N." The intercom spoke. Me and Pony both walked to our spots on the track and we heard the gang begin to cheer. We both looked up to them waving.

"Remember Y/N, you got this. I believe in you, the gang believe in you. Everyone in those bleachers believes in you. Now you have to believe in yourself." He said. I nodded sending him a smile. I notice now that all the other county's runners were lined up already. "On your mark. Get set.. Go!"

I pushed off with as much force as I could, and I looked back quickly seeing Pony next to me and the rest of the runners were being us. I noticed one start running faster so I picked up as much speed as I could and I ran.

"Go Y/N!" I turned seeing Pony. I smiled and I rushed to the finish line. Once I crossed it I cheered to myself. I can't believe I had just done that! We won!

"I told you could do it!" Pony cheered. I jumped into his arms wrapping him in a big hug. "Thank you so much Pony for believing in me." I smiled. He nodded.

"Always," he said. The gang rushed down from the bleachers and pulled us in for a big hug. "You guys did great!" Soda exclaimed. I blush thanking him.

"Hey Y/N can I talk to you for a second?" Pony asked. I nodded following him away from the gang confused. "Whats wrong Pony?" I asked confused.

"I was wondering if you wanna hang out sometime.. alone?" He blushed. I blushed to smiling wide. "Are you asking me out on a date Ponyboy Curtis?" I giggled. He blushed harder his neck and ears turning red along with his cheeks. "Yeah," he smiled.

"Of course Pony, I would love to," I said.
